[ACS][GPL] Vision Kernel 1.2

I do have one or two incidents to report. I'm sure they have come up before but I will report them anyways.

- Occasional physical keyboard lag. When it does happen its extremely slow. Takes forever to catch up with what I have entered.

- Occasional complete system lag/or slow response. Everything comes to a crawl almost at point of lockup. I'm running the stock setting of 100-1000 Mhz on conservative. When this happens I quickly jump into SetCPU and bump it to 200-1000 Mhz and it immediately resolves the issue.

Otherwise its been very good. Battery life seems very respectable or comparable to Twilight Zone 1.1.0 kernel under the same settings/conditions.

Running Syndicate v1.1.0, in case it matters. No themes, complete stock.

never had any more keyboard lag than i get with any other kernel. the system lag happens when it hits 100mhz which is why i cant use ondemand since it ignores my min setting and insits on dropping to 100mhz anyway. theres a few issues like the choppy video above 1ghz, but all in all its my fave kernel because batt life is on par and the option of jacking it up to 1.4ghz. if the bugs get worked out it should prove to be my go-to kernel.

I agree. The keyboard lag I'm not really sure if its kernel related. I wish I could do 1.4, I soon as I put it there I lockup... So I'll stick with the lower numbers ;)

what kind of temps are generally deemed safe for these chips anyway? i had it in the sun and saw it get over 100 f. setcpu downclocked and took care of it, but it did get me thinking.

I was wondering the same thing too. One time, my phone was going up to 110 degrees and I was at room temperature. I was afraid it was going to do something bad so I took off the battery cover, underclocked, put the phone face down, and let it cool.

i find it cools off very quickly once you downclock to reasonable speeds, so im not THAT worried, and even at 1.4 it usually wont go above like 95 tops. i had it sitting in the sun, charging, and gaming at 1.4ghz which added up to hitting like 102. it cooled back down right away, butit would be nice to have an idea where the safe limit is at lol.

I'm not sure what the maximum limit is, but I do know that if the phone starts getting too hot it will shut itself off, it's a safety precaution to prevent fires and the destruction of the cpu lol. So you shouldn't worry too much about the heat unless it concerns you, in which case just lower the clock speed.

I'm not sure of the maximum temp limit either, but I believe just about all A8 cortex chips are designed to handle 50?~55?C or 120+ f. I've had my phone shut down at around 120 back when I was on eclair, but with custom kernels and roms it hasn't happened yet.

It also seems like you're one of the "lucky" ones that don't have very good 100mhz compatibility. Does 100mhz work right for you on other kernels?

EDIT: Oh hey, a developer tag and my sig image is working!

Well damn, if its 120 F, then im not worried. If 1.4ghz in the sun, gaming, with the battery charging adding more heat only takes me to like 105 then I think I'm fine lol.

what the eff? why is yours suddenly working but not mine?

Changing your user group (which also enables pics in your sig) is on the to do list for our admin, as well as thomasskull666. Should be done by today.

Just note Shabby's not a ROM dev, but just some guy who screws with things...

...and makes sure I don't overlook an important section of our userbase here on AndroidCentral. Do you have an 'Ambassador' user group? ;)

Shabby Ambassador, I like it!

I did know that Shabbypenguin does not actually develop for ACS, but since he's part of your development team, represents you and needs to be able to display signature pics (and will be able to make use of upcoming features for your user group), the best way to accommodate him is by changing his user group to "ROM Developer". It's the closest title we have for the time being. When we get something more fitting, we'll go ahead and switch him over. But I do appreciate the heads up.
