Activate after rooting?

I purchased a LG Optimus V used (clear ESN) but don't think I'm going to keep it. I figure I should root it before I resell it -- might increase the value slightly.

I just want to make sure that the next person will be able to activate the phone after it's already been rooted -- has anyone already activated a rooted phone and can confirm this for me?

I did everything from Virgin's website. Activated and everything. The phone was rooted (bought off craigslist)

Why would rooting increase the value? Given that it's trivially easy to do, I would think it would *decrease* the value. I certainly would be less trusting if the phone was already rooted.
