Not sure if this has been posted (search doesn't work well from the app)

But I found that turning off Adaptive Battery (Android Pie) has significantly improved battery life. Now with screen off the battery isn't dropping and screen on is way way better.

The difference is night and day.

Not tried it yet but that is very interesting

Hmm, found it and turned it off. However ... the description reads as if Adaptive Battery ON is supposed to result in a longer period between charges.
???

Battery is definitely lasting longer with adaptive battery turned off.

I factory reset my pixel after upgrading to Pie and all the settings are bone stock and I can't kill my battery in a normal day..... and I've tried lol. And the battery doesn't drop at all in standby mode. I'm not running any third party apps though, that would probably make a difference.

Have you tried a factory reset? I know it can be a pain if your phones more customized, but I see so many folks fighting constant irritating problems that a factory reset would most likely fix. I always factory reset after an os upgrade, and I've been fortunate enough to never have any real issues to speak of ;-)

Bought my Pixel XL a week ago, with 8.1 on board. Received update to 9.0 and one bug fix update as soon as turned it on. Installed all my apps after both updates, so everything works fine without a factory reset. No battery drain. Quite happy with it as for now.

I have a weird battery problem since installing PIE. My Pixel XL still discharges even when the phone is completely shut down (15-18 % overnight). I'm going to try turning of adaptive battery to see if that helps.

Battery life had been horrendous since updating to pie. Tried adaptive battery on and off and restricting the most offending apps. Nothing worked.
Google support said I'd need to factory reset. Battery life has been better but not even close to what it was on oreo.
I'm currently getting about 4 hours per charge.

The October security patch hasn't helped btw.

Reading these negative comments make me glad I turned off update notifications when Pie initially hit. Hoping they get it figured out soon.

A week after I turned off adaptive battery, my battery life seems to be better.

I also found out something weird about the Android Battery percentage indicator. If you fully shut down your phone and then turn it on a day or two later, the indicator will show you the estimated percentage of battery life remaining, not the actual charge left. I charged to 96% on Friday afternoon and then fully shut down my phone. I turned it on again Saturday night and the percentage was down to 65%. After using the phone for the next 3 hours, the percentage still showed 65%. I suspect if I had continued using it, the % wouldn't have changed until went below actual 65% of the charge.
