Adaptive brightness

I had been using adaptive brightness for a short period, but when outside the screen would get very bright, too bright in fact. Is it a fault with that particular feature? or do I need to give it more time, as I have gone back manually adjusting the brightness.

I think you can set the slider lower and it'll stick to that brightness when it auto adjusts.
