Following this guide: http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...d-gingerbreak-no-reverting-ota-works-too.html

Unzipped to C: and try running adb shell and get this:
C:\OptimusRootZVD>adb shell
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found

Read some posts and saw that I need driver installed (why doesn't the guide mention this?), so I DL the LG Mobile Support Tool and Install USB Drivers for LGLS670. Connect USB and the tool still says Disconnected: Please connect your phone.

Tried adb kill-server and adb shell again and same error.

What am I doing wrong ?

Also I'm running LS670VZD and when I tried to run adb shell I had USB debugging turned on (again the guide does not mention this).

Reading deeper into the comments it seems I need to install JDK and Android SDK and cd into that dir to run adb shell. Am I crazy for thinking all of this should be mentioned in the 'guide' or is all of this not necessary?

What have u done so far? You need to cd into the adb folder.. then u need to make sure you have ADB Interface in your device manager. The LG Mobile update tool sometimes doesnt install all the drivers...

You need to have your cell connected with debug on. Make sure you DONT have usb storage turned on.

so.. if you could... cd to the proper folder... then try this command "adb devices"

you do this before going into adb shell. This will tell you if your device is seen via ADB

I'm fixed. For those who get stuck in the future you have to do the following:

LG MObile Support Tool
INstall DRivers for LGLS670

Install JDK
Install Android SDK - Install latest API update

I'm rooted and on my way. Thanks jondevere

Are you running windows 7 by chance?
And if so, do you mind if I ask which version.

EDIT: I'm blind, see it's fixed nvm

I'm having the same troubles. spent several days trying with no luck :(

I am trying to install ReBorn, but i understand i need to root first, then do a custom recovery, and then install the ReBorn rom.

So far I have installed B2CAppSetup.exe (LG Mobile phone support tool) and jdk-6u25-windows-i586.exe (JDK). When i try to install installer_r11-windows.exe (ADK) I get an error saying that JDK is not installed. But i've installed it 3 times.. Please help!

jcwxguy you are AWESOME!!!! Thanks for spending all that time walking me through this process!

yeah there are several beginning steps that are not mentioned in the guide. i spent 2 days asking and reading to get all the steps correct. someone (not me, not knowledgeable enough) should put all info together. that should would help newbies like myself.
