I downloaded sdk to my laptop but the command prompt won't open adb.

Can someone please tell me in simple terms how I get adb to work? I want to root my evo but it came with the latest update installed. This is really making me want to say f it and go to the droid x.

I had my old evo rooted but I returned it due to faulty battery port, sprint have me a free evo but this battery is killing me.

Please someone help me root and end this nightmare.

Thank you!

You probably don't have the driver.

Install the latest htc sync and it will install it.

Ahhh, I did not think of that. Now I have to remember how to install sync.

On a side note, looks like xda is about to launch simple root ota version

Mount your sdcard and you'll see a folder named htc sync, open and run the .exe

I believe PdaNet will install the driver as well. I could be wrong but I remember the program stating that when I installed it onto my computer.
