I have rooted my new NC to CM7 and have been having a great time tweaking it. I almost have it to where I want it. Now it is time to shift my attention to the wife's NC. She will use it primarily as an E-Reader, but wants to be able to access the market. Before we got them I read that it was possible to root the stock NC to add the market, this keeping the stock reader. But, now I can't seem to find a how to thread. Is what I want to do possible? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you,

That's for a 1.1 Nook Color (I suspect that most, if not all, stock Nooks have been upgraded to 1.2 by now). For version 1.2 it is a bit more involved, this thread should help.

I use the Nook reader with CM7, but have to admit that the stock version is a better reader.

I think below is the best way for your wife who wants best of both worlds. This is what I did.

1. Clockworkmod backup
2. Manual nooter
3. Overclock (optional - but I like it)
4. Add google apps
5. Choose default launcher (other than nook)
6. Add apk for nook launcher (find online)
7. Add shortcut to nook launcher

Now she can switch over to the "nook side" easily and have access to all of the market apps. The overclock will make it snappy. Hitting the home button on mine defaults to zeam.

How do I overclock after using the manual nooter? Also, you can add google apps with manual nooter? I would love to have full market access with the stock 1.2 rooted. I was using phiremod, but just switched back to stock with the manual nooter because I wanted to see if I could get better battery life with stock. I'm missing the fact that I don't have full market access (mostly for mlb at bat 11, but a few others) I would LOVE to know how to do this.
