Add Mute Function to Phone Notification

Hello,

I recently migrated from a Samsung Galaxy S6 to a Pixel 2 and one of the features that I'm missing is the ability to Mute an active call from within the Phone notification directly. On the Pixel 2 the Hang Up and Turn Speaker On functions are available, but not Mute. Does anyone know if this can be added somehow so I don't have to switch to the Phone app to Mute/Unmute a call?

I'm assuming you mean an incoming call and you want to mute the ringer. Single click on the down volume button.

nah he means in the phone notification while on a call, where it says HANG UP or SPEAKER ON to be a notification there for MUTE/UNMUTE

not an option for that at this moment, very very slight chance it happens without a Custom ROM

Yesterday I tried to mute myself while on a call. I could not find a way to do this from the Phone dialer app, so had to hang up as it was noisy where I was.

I was a bit surprised. Option to mute while on a call is a basic feature. Did I just completely miss something?

Yes, thanks. I think I know more about what may be going on. I called into a Skype call that had an optional "regular" non-VOIP number. On that call there was no Mute button in my Pixel 2 XL's Phone dailer app as you show in the screenshot.

Today, my wife and daughter called me, and each time a Mute icon appeared in the Phone dialer screen just like we'd expect. My wife has a Note 8, while my daughter has an iPhone 7. We are all on Verizon.

The call I made yesterday was to a non-Verizon number. Could there be something at play with Verizon specific settings on my end?

I'm on AT&T and call my gf on Verizon and the mute button shows up

Cool, that's another good test case. Not being able to mute while on a business call is a non-starter. Will need to figure this one out more.

I know I've called into business calls before on iOS 10.x with the same Skype optional "regular" non-VOIP number and have been able to mute calls via the iOS Phone dialer Mute button.

I could be wrong, but is it possible that there is some setting I need to change on my end so that the Mute button will appear when dialing into business call lines like the above?

Yesterday morning I had to call into a Skype call with the same optional "regular" non-VOIP number. I could see no option to mute the call on my end. Tried the enable speakerphone option from the notification bar menu option, but that did not expose an option to mute. Did not see a mute option on the main dialer screen either.

This has become a no go situation, and is frustrating when I know muting while on a call is possible with iOS, and I'm fairly confident with something like a Note 8 and TouchWiz.

Not sure. I call all carriers (friends/family on various carriers) and I always have the Mute icon. even when I call support numbers. I can't recall it ever not being there.

You mention Skype -- so are you calling Skype with the regular dialer or are you dialing through Skype?

Thanks. I was calling using the regular Pixel dialer. The Skype conference call supports VOIP as well as a landline call in option.

Interesting. I would say since it seems to only happen when calling Skype numbers that it is somehow acting differently with that type of call.

I only call landlines / support numbers / cell phones (no VoIP services) and I always have the mute toggle.
