Additional action for fingerprint sensor?

Is it possible to add an additional action to tapping the fingerprint sensor? Once the screen is on, I'd like to tap the fingerprint sensor to have the same action as pressing the home button.

Not by default. I would assume if you rooted you could maybe do something like this but not with the stock software.

Some third party apps allow additional actions without root.

I don't believe you can do that with the stock software. However, you can set it up where you can raise/lower the notification menu by swiping up/down on the fingerprint sensor.
