Adobe Flash

Will Flash work on the Incredible as of yet?

Thanks

The incredible has Flask light on it as of now so you can get some laggy performance from flash animations but the newest version of Flask i supposed to be released with FroYo (2.2)

Downloaded and installed flash on my incredible via astro and installed it. Is that all I have to do? What's a good sit e to test it out on?

Edit: never mind. Works great.

If you have installed this please go to What Is My Flash Version? and this site will give you a version number you are running. There are a few people saying this is nothing new compared to flash lite which came on the Inc. I have not tried to download it and my version number is 10.1.123.

Interesting. I have the same version as you and I did install it, unless I did it incorrectly. I don't think I did, though.

I also installed it and the website says 10.1.123, going to the Aplication manager it reports version 101061068

Just uninstalled flash and went to adobe's site and some others and I do think it is really not working but is the same as lite.

That's what some others have been saying this new version is still using lite and the full version won't work until 2.2

I had to turn off Mobil View before it would try & load FarmVille but it's too much for the phone to handle. (I too am showing the same version listed - 123). Time to hit Hulu or Break.com!

Well, the little "prompt" box suggested I look at 5 other "Flash" titled threads before starting one. So, here I am, writing a question within a thread, hoping it gets found and answered.

I'm not an I.T. person but kinda-sorta understand "some" Tech Speak. I just bought (and LOVE!) the Nextbook2. Had the Entourage pocket Edge, and returned it after a week; it was NOT for me.

I've discovered that NEITHER tablet will allow me to visit websites that use Flash: Any network site, youtube or XFinity, which is really what I wanted to use, to catch up on shows and use my internet option.

What confuses me is that BOTH tablets had you register with Adobe so why doesn't the Adobe Flash work? Both tablets also advertized, "Watch vidoes and movies on our tablets!!!" Well....WHICH FRIGGIN' MOVIES AND VIDEOS???? Every site that I visit won't allow me to play any. And I want to do the choosing on which youtube video I watch, not some preset crap showing teen girls applying make-up!

I did a quick search to see what you were talking about. You did the right thing by looking for an existing thread. Thanks :D. You happened to pick the forum dedicated to the Droid Incredible phone, however. You may get more information on this forum:

I did find some generic info about your tablet and it seems to be running Android version 1.6. Sorry, but this does not support Flash. You need to have Android 2.2 or higher to run Flash. You should not expect that tablet to be updated, either. I fully expect them to keep it at 1.6 since it's a lower end device. I'm sure it's a fine device, but no, it will most likely never be able to run Flash. Sorry.

In Androids defense, it's not an Android problem. Whoever makes the Next2 put the equivalent of Windows 98 into this tablet and sold it today. It works just fine if you have a limited range of things you want to accomplish. FYI, 1.6 was introduced about 2 years ago. Since then we have seen 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 (introduced this past Spring) with 2.3 expected this December.

I don't know about the XFinity stuff, but the other option is to find a tablet that at least has access to the Android Market of applications. I assume your Next2 tablet does not. If you find a tablet that does have the Android Market, then you can download the YouTube app, and it will probably work.

Manufacturers can put Android on whatever they want free of charge. If they want it hooked up to the Android Market, however, they have to pay Google a fee. Some manufacturers play it on the cheap and don't bother adding Market access, which means you can't download any apps. I suspect your Next2 does not have any market access.

The best Android tablet out there right now is the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It runs Android 2.2 and has working Flash. Keep in mind that there is not a wifi-only version yet for the Galaxy Tab, so you would need to pay $30/month for data. Many people are waiting for a wifi-only version to go on sale.

Also keep in mind that Google itself says that Android 3.0 is the ideal version for Tablets. 2.2 is out now. 2.3 will be out shortly. 3.0 will be soon after 2.3, probably around January or February (yes, they are going right from 2.3 to 3.0). 2.2 will probably work just fine for your needs, though, if you can find a 2.2 tablet in your price range.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
