Adreno 320 vs Mali MP4? S4 Pro Vs Exynos

Sorry you are disappointed with the phone. As most people have pointed out this phone is an experience, as in software. See where the Note 2 is after a year. I'm betting still on JB. If you are not happy with the phone and from the sound of it you aren't, then just go with the Note 2. It seems as though you are very abrasive to peoples comments when everyone else here seems happy with their Nexus 4.

With all due respect I do not keep my phones for that long. If something better comes up then I get that device. I usually keep the device life cycle to 3-6 months life cycle. For most people they are just phones and they do not care what they are using but all my gadgets are very important for me.

I was not really name calling him as you pressume just telling my impression of him....Im not a little girl that bullies people for the sake of it..just telling it how it is.

Do not want to comment on it especially after I came to know that you are female and I respect females. I am also not into name calling business just because of a phone because I do not like something which someone else have adored which actually happens all the time. Everyone have different preferences and everything does not fit all. I am disappointed because to me Nexus 4 is not doing even those tasks which it's hard was suppose to do. Am I asking or expecting too much?
I expect the phone to run at normal temperature not hot.
I expect this phone considering the hardware a smooth working and gaming experience. At this point I am not getting the good experience.
I spent $500 on a $350 phone only to get one before it gets too old because if I would have waited for google play store then it would have taken another 2-3 months and 2-3 months in today's mobile industry is a very long time.
I expect good battery life from a 2100mAh battery it has but I am not getting one.
I expect good camera quality from a 8MP camera but I am not getting one.
I expect the phone to provide me good sound but it does not provide that.
Thankfully my phone is not plagued with hardware problems like some of the people are experiencing like yellow screen tint, bad battery, sound coming from speaker etc etc. but I have performance issues.
I wanted to feel the performance of S4 pro and this is why I bought this phone but I am not getting one.

Am I asking / expecting too much? I am just expecting it to do what it is supposed to do. If I feel disappointed and I want to share this in this thread especially considering that this thread is comparison of processors and GPU which means performance then am I doing something wrong?

Calling me names just because I do not agree with you or if I dare to speak the truth is justified?

It is my new toy as well and I want to love it but it should at least give me one good reason to do so.

Actually what bothers me is that people are calling something better which is not giving equal or better performance than another device which it is compared against. I think someone who has experience of using both should be trusted more than others having one single device and claiming that their device is awesome. Everyone whatever they own thinks that it is awesome.

I was actually expecting good experience from nexus 4 after watching reviews and GL Benchmark results. I wanted an android phone which can give me iphone 5 like gaming performance. By the way, I bought iPhone 5 as well and if gaming is all I want then I could have kept iPhone 5 but I like android and I want an android phone which is an all rounder which can give me good experience in everything like iPhone 5 give. After watching GL Benchmark scores I thought that this is it and Nexus 4 is the device that I am looking for which can match the performance of iPhone 5 on android platform which I adore. If the device is not giving me that performance then it is very natural that I would feel disappointed. When I came on this forum I already have ordered a Nexus 4 and this is why I came on this forum so that I just keep myself busy until I get my next toy. During the time my friend showed me his nexus and the gaming performance I saw on his mobile phone was underwhelming and in all honesty I thought that I would sell my nexus 4 as soon as I receive it and without opening the packaging. However I failed to do that because nothing match the excitement of owning a new gadget. I knew about the thermal throttling problem before I ordered but I never thought that it would be so severe that it would start to throttle within couple of minutes of gameplay. Today my phone ran very hot and the only thing I was using was mobile data HSPA+ and camera. I checked the battery temp was 40.2c even without gaming only by using mobile data and camera at the same time. I have never experienced this before and it is natural to feel disappointed. From day one I have to keep battery temp widget on the home screen just to monitor what is going on and this is the first device that is pushing me to do such things. I had never cared about CPU and battery temp before.

I thought note 2 is the most hot running device that I have ever owned but it was understandable because it is quad core at 1.6GHz. However note 2 is no way close and after playing Nova 3 or Modern Combat 4 Note 2 CPU Temp is 54c and battery 36c whereas Nexus 4 battery temp goes to 43.2c and CPU 51 to 54 only after 10-15 mins gaming.

Most people do not care about updates because they use custom roms and kernels. Why care so much about updated when CM is there.

The colors aren't muted they're accurate.

Because name calling gives you so much credibility right?

Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

They are not accurate as when I see pictures on my iPad 4 and Nexus 4 the colors are different. I have tested iPad 4 screen color accuracy myself by taking pictures of different objects and putting the pictures of iPad 4 and compare the pictures with actual objects. Nexus 4 colors are little muted or you can say not vibrant if it is a better term but it is no Nexus 7 which has weird colors (yes I own one). I am not comparing Nexus 7 to LED screen rather other PLS IPS display like iPhone 5 and iPad 4.

To all the people on this thread who hate me so much only because I am experiencing problems with Nexus 4:

Tell me why would I purposely dislike Nexus 4? Why would I purposely do that? This is not your phone vs my phone thing rather Nexus 4 is my own phone and this is my honest evaluation from my experience in 3-4 days. Google screwed up another Nexus which has all the potential to become the best nexus ever.

Is it all hardware issues though? Or do you think this can be fixed with a software update? I feel your pain - there has been so much potential lost with many things with this phone, but I feel like it's more of a software optimization problem.

I understand some of what you are saying. I think the thermal throttling issue has been well documented. Nobody is denying it. I also have the Note 2 and the N4 but for me to expect the N4 to be as good overall as a $650 device with an older OS version that has had a little more time in the oven for optimization would be a little bit of a reach. Maybe I'm not as much of a hardcore gamer but I can barely tell a difference between the two as far as performance goes. The N4 definitely runs hotter and the battery is helpless against some of the more demanding games but in general I find the performance to be good, especially for a $350 device. The Nexus is as much about software as it is hardware (if not more so). I'm sure Google is working on an update to address some of the issues, and since there is no carrier in the way, those updates shouldn't take forever to get here. Whether one is better or not is subjective. What's better for me may not be better for your. There are alot of things about the Nexus 4 that I like over the Note 2 and vice versa. In just a few days I cannot definitively say which device is better (for me). For the majority of the every day tasks I use my smartphone for they appear to be about equal (I have not done alot of gaming). I have not yet decided if I'm going to sell the Nexus or stick with the Note 2. I'm going to give it a few weeks, perhaps even wait for an update to decide. The only thing that is killing the experience for me is battery life.

It can be software and I wish that as well. However I am concerned that why battery is heating up so much. Processor does not heat up much and nexus 4 CPU runs quite cooler than most other devices. The battery heating up problem can be either hardware or software. I am not the expert on it so I can not say anything. However like you I also wish that the problem is software related and google fix it with next update. At the moment google is too busy preparing for holidays. I also feel lack of feedback from google on such matters very frustrating. I have never heard any official words from google on most of the problems on any device (nexus 7 included) and it seems that they are sleeping or cut off from rest of the world. After my experience with nexus 7 I thought that I would not buy nexus 4 or nexus 10 and this is why I did not order nexus 4 on 13th november. But I found nexus 4 hardware too good to ignore so I ordered at the begining of this month.

OK one I'm not a girl is a figure of speech ..second everyone has the right to speak their mind we don't blame you for that.. Thirdly if you don't use your devices for that long why complain here if you gonna throw it away anyways.. I'm sorry I was not spoon fed like you since you seem to want to win every help or advice people give you .. my angle is not to insult you or be rude but to let you know that your problems are basically fixable .. if you want better performance than root the phone sherlock or be smart and patient which I can see you are not and wait for Google to address the issues at hand..

Nexus 4 is out since 13 nov (more than a month) good enough to iron out such edges? Yes this is the next I am going to do, root, custom kernel and try my luck with under volting etc. I do not want to do spoon fed rather many people here were posing as experts so I wanted their advice especially when they said that the issue has been discussed before and I am beating a dead horse. Dead horse? so does this means the problem was solved? No. So the horse is not dead then. The thing is when the device is plagued with such issues then stop calling it awesome or better than something which you have no idea of.

Did I say I was a professional? Did I say the nexus 4 is the best device in the world? No and no ..in less than 1 month we did have an update 4.2.1 remember? It was not a huge update but it was something ..I'm not gonna argue with someone that only listens to himself since you are always right

Old software? lets talk about what new software has to offer over old software. If you think 4.2.1 has so much to offer over 4.1.1 then what can I say. I do not think a single feature in 4.2.1 matters at all. The swipe keyboard was already part of touch wiz, lock screen widget thing is poorly done by google and I would use widget locker over the 4.2.1 lock screen widget feature. Now the settings short cut on notification drawer does not matter for two reasons:
1- it is not easy to swipe with two fingers when you have only one hand free and that hand is holding the phone. I rather prefer the touch wiz style toggles which require only one finger swipe as they sit in the notification drop down not in separate drop down which is the case with 4.2.1. Widgetsoid etc would be better than this implementation.
2- few things are not toggles rather they are short cuts and would take you inside settings like mobile data on off etc.

What else 4.2.1 has to offer over 4.1.1?

There are some bugs as well which you might have not noticed. Most of the time the mobile data turn on does not work seamlessly and one has to put phone in and out of airplane mode to turn on data. Battery drain is a buy. I wonder why no one has noticed that 1080p video looks worse than 720p video made by the device. Most of the time the alerts such as gmail and facebook notifications does not show up or they show pretty late. I know this because I have setup both facebook and gmail on note 2 as well ipad 4 and both ipad 4 and note 2 are much much faster than nexus 4 and they do alert me every time and do not skip alerts.
Facebook experience suck as no contact sync is there and also some times page fails to refresh properly or the comments would not show up and circle keep on spinning.
I think everyday task does include taking pictures, making video, listening to music, using facebook and long battery life and nexus 4 sucks on all these items. Why the damn thing run so hot on mobile data :-( no otg support big bummer for me considering only 16Gb. Can not download pod casts anymore. It feels like that if I continue to use nexus 4 then I have to keep note 2 as well for everything else that nexus 4 can't do or not do well.
It is not only gaming where the phone thermal throttle rather today i recorded 40.3c with just mobile data on and using device camera. It starts to throttle at 37 and increase the throttle more at 39c and it had passed both the thresholds under just normal use. No gaming. I don't know what was going on and why mobile data and camera make the phone so hot.

I am not always right but I know what is right for me. I was actually mentioning someone else when I was replying to your post by saying that some people on this thread are saying that the device is mind blowing (don't want to name who but thread is open and anyone can see it).

I agree there was update but as I see it now google was using and still uses Nexus program for android development and bug fixing. People who use nexus devices are kind of beta testers and with time the build becomes more stable to use and when that time arrives that build is released for other devices as well. Android devices (other than nexus) use to sucks as far as updates are concerned but now manufacturer have started to do a better job or at least samsung is doing better than before. Jelly bean on S2, S3 was released and I was not expecting this considering their previous record. Where I am living the update does not comes through carriers rather manufacturer themselves so carriers are not the problem and this is how it should be. Apple updates their devices like that even in US so why not android can do the same?

I hope that, as you said, google would soon send an update which would fix everything but I doubt that everything would be fixed. They have not accepted official yet that anything needs to be fixed. Why there are no user based support and proper feedback on such issues like apple do it for their users.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

Anyways, thanks everybody for such feedback and such warm welcome on the forums. I listen to android central pod casts and I read news on android central channel in google currents daily but never thought about joining the forums. After ordering nexus 4 because of the excitement I joined the forum to receive such a lovely feedback where people called me from troll to moron etc.
Thanks for lovely feedback and it shows what we are as human beings in this day and at this point in time. How much our social skills are developed over the years.

I agree with you on the lack of feedback from Google. Honestly, it feels like they have no idea whatsoever what is going on with this phone, or their Nexus lineup at all. If they want to get into hardware, they should commit to it.

@saadi703, I said what I had to say. You can copy and paste everyone's responses and keep this thread going till next year for all I care with your constant arguments. Most people have given you solid advice and have told you to go with the Note 2. I'm glad no one recommended you to a restaurant. I'd hate to see how you would handle that, LOL. I'm out of here.

P.S. Having developed social skills does not mean you agree with and enjoy everyones company.

Aw nuts, you're leaving. I will sincerely miss reading your poorly written English.

Enjoy the Note II!

Im mad late but why didnt anyone ever apply the droid dna or jbutterfly same hardware as the nexus 4 but way better scores and performance. and also mali mp400 wall never be able to do what the tegra 3 does even if it is faster the support is not there in hardware. i would consider the mali mp400 to be quad nvidia 7950gtx and the tegra 3 to be 1 gtx280 the 4 7950's are much faster but you can never enable the eye candy u could with the gtx280. hopefully cellphone makes and chip providers can give us more info on theses SoC so we can can have actual facts that are 100% accurate.
