So today I had to call my daughter's iphone 6 from my wife's Samsung S5.

I was blown away by the call quality. I had to pull the phone from my ear and look at the screen, and it was then that I noticed the HD symbol. Advanced Calling is NO JOKE... it sounds absolutely fantastic and brings cellular telephone to a new level.

Now I am REALLY interested in knowing why the flagship HTC is not enabled yet....!? WTH?

I could be wrong, but I think that HTC M8 has the HD Calling enabled by default, you will not see any settings for it, and there is no symbol for it either, but my ears tells me it is there.

Sent from my HTC One M8

I have it on my AT&T M8. You can tell because after the update the LTE and 4G stayed on during a call now. Before, when on a call the LTE indicator went off. There is also and option to disable it in the settings menu. It does sound great, but both phones have to be compatible.

I talked to Verizon about this not long ago and they didn't have a timeline on when specific phones would get HD calling. The rep said it's up to the manufacturers to release the needed updates. So far I haven't seen anything about the M8 having it yet.

Sorry guys, in my haste I neglected to say that I was a slave to Verizon. :-)

So the good thing from this thread is that I know that it works with other carriers.

Does advanced calling work between carriers or just within? That is, if I call someone on sprint from att with enabled phones, would it work?

I only get HD when I call other Sprint phones.

I've read that Verizon and AT&T will be compatible possibly......haven't heard about other carriers.

T-Mobile had HD calling nationwide since January 2013. They were first to have it. Of course, both callers must be using HD-capable phones and be on HD-enabled networks for it to work. Works with WiFi calling too.

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

Any news on this for Verizon users?

Verizon's website makes it look like only the M9 is compatible with Advanced Calling. Yet AT&T shows the M8 as "HD voice" capable, so I am guessing the hardware is there...

I'd really like to try out this feature on my M8 but I simply do not see the option to do so anywhere on my phone.
