After 8.1, Battery will not charge to 100%

I have this issue...but it is random....I'm wondering if I should replace the device ... I really don't want to.

mine charges to 100% like before, however since 8.1 it seems to drop a lot faster. on 8 it would stay at 100% for quite a long time, now it drops almost as soon as I unplug and swipe the notification shade. I'm inclined to believe this is software not hardware on my end. sounds like others are experiencing this as well? is it actually just reading the battery more accurately then before or is it draining faster?

I would guess that the battery calibration is just more accurate now. If you were to drain the battery to zero, the total battery life would probably be about the same.

yah. the only reason i am tempted to download 8.1 again, is to see if it is truly software vs hardware. and to know that nothing was wrong with my original device. but i guess it doesnt really matter in hind sight??

yeah. question of the century. but i just got the update last night for 8.1 so i downloaded it and today i have my phone plugged in it is 205pm EST and i am at 93%. let's see how this works out.

got the upgrade for 8.1 last night, 12/13 at around 11pm.

charging phone now for some time, at 205pm i was at 93%. let's see where it goes

I reported the fast drain to google and they sent a replacement P2 out. When it came I left it on 8.0 and for 9 hours (while I slept) it stayed on 100%. I rebooted the device and it dropped instantly to 96%, so I suspect that 8.1 has a better report on the battery.

Initially I got in touch with google due to the 8.1 drain, but it seems 8.0 reported it incorrectly. If this is the case then i'm not sure the batter life is good enough.

I just flashed an 8.1 ROM to my Nexus 5. It previously would hold at 100%, but now it does this while on the charger.
