Is there any way to enable motion gestures to turn on the screen? I am looking for something similar to the HTC One M8

It weighs 175g. That would make the device much heavier.
I too really disliked the buttons at first. Then I learned to pinch the buttons with thumb and index finger. Give that a try. It really works. The buttons actually push in at an angle towards the screen.

Yeah it's actually quite convienent the way the buttons are placed once you get used to it.
Yes, I have
I can live with the WiFi problem. What I can't live with is the uninspiring design. All electronic devices must be attractive, almost inviting people to use them. I don't feel like that with the Nexus 7. The opposite.
The best thing about a Nexus is they are nearly impossible to brick.

Ha, ha....I got mine running a weird ROM....it took almost 4 hours but I was able to get stock 4.4.2 running on it...so yes I agree with you completely! There were about two or three times, I felt like I was about to brick it but.....same thing with my Nexus 4 as well![]()
You have to actively TRY to brick it

At the end of the day I couldn't come to terms with the quality of the device. Maybe I am spoiled by Apple, or maybe I think that having an HTC One M8 is sufficient, since the screen size difference isn't that big. If I need a bigger screen, I use my Macbook Air.
I will keep an eye on the market though for a top quality (it must be on par with the iPad) Android tablet, and if one comes out I will buy it. I am not going back to the iPad as long as the OS remains so restrictive..
Actually, the N7 2013 is a piece of art. It just doesn't scream "look at me". Maybe I'm wrong. The screen says it.
It's a beautiful, vibrant thing.
On the subway someone always asks 'is that a mini Retina?' and I introduce them to the world of Android.
I don't know. If tablets were as thin as paper would we really talk about the backside? or the quality on the front? And what we can do with the front!
