After April 2019 samsung galaxy update, all my contacts listed first name first, not last

Previous to April 2019 Galaxy s8 update, my contacts were listed last name first, now first name. In Contacts app 3 dots upper right only opens menu of Share and Delete. No sorting menu.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the Samsung Contacts app or the Google Contacts app? The menu button you're pressing sounds like the one that's specific to a contact. There should be a general menu button, usually at the upper left (or swipe in from the left). Look for the main app settings there.

Goto Contacts > Hamburger menu (not the 3 dots) > Press the "gear" symbol > Name format > Change to Last,First.


I have the note 8 but on Pie/One UI so it should be similar.
