After Gingerbread Update: Text Message Not Sent and Keyboard Lagging?

My keyboard is driving me crazy! Lagging constantly. I turned the vibration off, but that kinda sucks to since I'm so used to it, not it feels like there something missing when I type..

Try turning off haptic feedback..settings>sounds>untick haptic feedback. worked for me

i've had both these issues since 2.2 last october. nothing has resolved the issue. i sent maybe 6000 texts a month and so far 1 in 10 fails at least 3x before sending (therefore 600+ texts, so it's quite annoying). using handcent doesn't help, restoring/re-flashing doesn't help, going to GB doesn't help, calling verizon doesn't help. it just appears the devs are not paying as much attention to the issues and software fixes as you would hope.

Or get Mr. Lim's GB Keyboard in the market. It's fixed my lag and other miscellaneous keyboard issues... I'll never go back!

i can't find that even trying to google it. what are other good keyboards to use cause i have lag like a mofo.

i just installed GB last week and the only complaint i have is the option to select more than one contact in a text forward...any help???

i just tried this in the stock messaging app and i can add multiple contacts. after i type one name and choose the number it appears in a blue bubble, then i just start typing again and choose a second name/number. is this not working for you?

just an update, after i posted on here i really sat and thought about why i was having these issues and what programs could be inter-acting with my text messaging code. one thing i did was to delete yahoo messenger (note that i had froze it with titanium backup but i completely deleted it now) and so far things seem better but it's only been about 24 hours so i'll let you all know. the reason being is that y-messenger can use SMS to send messages (if this option is chosen in the menu) and i felt there might be an issue there. we'll see.

ok well so far things are much much better having un-installed y-messenger but i did have some issues last night requiring a few reboots. today i was looking at the battery door and i noticed that the surfaces which were supposed to make contact with the antenna points on the back of the phone looked as if they had some primer paint on them so i burnished them lightly until they were shiny. maybe this will also help.

ok so here's my update. after 2 days im fairly convinced what i did helped. i've had a couple issues but toggling the data helped or i rebooted the phone and everything was fine. i really do believe ymessenger was the brunt of my issue. it must have an adverse interaction with the OS.

When troubleshooting this is one of the things I try and rule out (another app conflict). Glad to see you solved your issue!!

yeah honestly ive had very few problems. i do see a definite problem where if the phone sits idle it won't engage in a data transfer so i go into settings and data delivery and turn data off then back on. usually that resolves it.

in all honestly i love android but there really is some further polishing required. if this is happening on gingerbread then clearly there are still coding issues.

Not happy Gimmy back the old version. I hate not being able to delete songs easily from the player.... GBread is rotten.

My fix has been switching to SwiftKey X beta. So much better than anything that comes stock and its so much faster and gives way better predictions!

Re: After Gingerbread Update: Text Message Not Sent and Keyboard

I was having the same issue with the lagging keyboard. And, when I would finish a word, the keyboard would drop down and "disappear" after every word I typed. This was making text messaging very difficult. I even did a factory reset and worked for about a week then had the same issue start back up. I ended up going into Settings/Language & Keyboard/Multi-Touch keyboard settings and disabled the Next Word Prediction. This did the trick for me and a friends phone that was having the same issue.

I am also having trouble with the "Message Not Sent". Also miss the Multi-Select Contacts when sending a message. Come on and get this stuff fixed! Poor release in my opinion.

Re: After Gingerbread Update: Text Message Not Sent and Keyboard

I am new to this forum as well and have been researching how to fix this crazy keyboard!! I seem to have EVERY problem each of you has mentioned. Multi touch keyboard input latin error, lagging keyboard, text messages not sent. I don't think I want to root, I just want this to work right!! Anyone actually get this resolved yet?

It may not be what you want to hear. But it will resolve your situation. I ended up saying screw it and just went and downloaded another keyboard of the android market. I'm using swiftkey beta x and i gotta say it's way faster than the stock keyboard ever was and it learns you as you type so it gets really good and predicting what you'll probably want to say next so that cuts down on the time I spend typing or messages.

Re: After Gingerbread Update: Text Message Not Sent and Keyboard

My mom has the X and she keeps loosing 3g for some reason...i had her turn on airplane mode and then turn it off and it seemed to fix the problem...but tonight she got the message not sent icon and i noticed the 3g icon wasn't there again so i did the airplane mode trick and nothing which was weird...i tried to do the hard reboot.power off phone (hold power & home key at the same time) until lloyd comes on the screen and then press the search button but i didn't get the recovery menu for some reason..any ideas or other tricks to try and hard reboot the X?

I disabled and my keyboard is actually acting normal now, thanks for the information. However, the new problem i'm experiencing is if I'm texting to the same person my sent texts are in one text message and my received texts are in another text message. So I have 2 text message screens for the same user. Can't quite figure that one out yet.

I've had a few problems since my device (Droid X) received the Gingerbread update, most of which have already worked out. The first problem was on screen keyboard lagging. Later that day, I received 'text not sent' messages when trying to send out texts. Strangely, this was only to one person, other texts to different people went through fine, as did all picture messages. I also had a couple random reboots. All of this has stopped. I have noticed, however, that the camera lags really bad, and the delay after clicking from when the photo is captured is much slower than pre-gingerbread. I haven't be able to work that out yet.

+1 camera responsiveness. I use my camera all the time in this is really starting to bug me.

Sometimes hard to keep up with since there are usually daily updates on do many programs. Don't notice a issue for a few days if you don't use a program regularly, gotta think back.
