Re:

Mine is doing this again since the last software update. It was doing it when I initially bought the phone, was fixed in one of the monthly patches, and then started doing it again since the February patch.

Same here, except my phone never did it until now.

Re:

If it were a hardware issue it wouldn't make sense that it stopped happening for 2 months, right after a software update and then started happening again right after another software update. Yes, it's intermittent, but it happens pretty frequently. At least once per day.

Haha. The other night I thought I was at a nightclub with strobe lights on. Twice I looked outside to see it a storm was coming

I'll most likely jumping ship after all the hype the phone isn't the greatest. Not to me that is.

There are pros and cons Google has a long ways to go in the phone market

If it isn't good for you why keep it? Because of the "hype" ? That is an odd reason to me to keep the device. Don't go with what others hype up.. go with what works for you :P.

Well since I just sold mine on eBay it looks like the S9 in black. Was about to purchase an S8 when I heard the S9 will have dual speakers. I normally pay cash and buy them unlocked to reduce all the bloatware.

What were you able to get for the p2xl at this point if you don't mind me asking. Just curious about their resale value

I listed it for $750 Buy it Now or Best Offer and had two offers but before I could reply someone paid the $750 and yes I was shocked. Anyone does not believe me I'll post a screenshot. lol

Re:

I had this issue when I got my new unit from Best Buy last week. Was told people usually get it and it goes away over time. I already swapped one due to bad screen uniformity and didn't want to swap this one and get banned by the stupid TRE.

Since installing the Feb update I haven't had it happen once. People posting in XDA forums and Google I think too, have been denied RMA for this issue it seems.

If it starts happening again and Google refuses RMA I will make sure to record video of it happening and file a BBB complaint against them.

I've also read that other people get this problem on other hardware that has recently been updated to 8.1, so if true leads me to believe this really is a software bug.
TRE?

My screen is loosing oleophobic coating after 2 months, called them at least 5 times and provided them photos with evidence of the phenomenon.

They claim it's not a defective, cause it's not preventing screen functioning... believe me: if they can, they certainly try to avoid RMA.

By the way, I had the flashing issue on my previous pixel 2 xl. It's a hardware defect...and I got an RMA for that.

I think that they're trying to limit RMA procedures cause of the high number of defective units and complaints people is reporting....
