Expectations were low and somehow this didn't meet them. Battery is a deal breaker.

I was hoping until the very last second that the leaks were incorrect and the phone's screen was going to stay under 5". I just don't need a phone this large; I prefer smaller phones. I'm still hoping that they choose to come out with a "mini" version, similar to what Sony did with the Z3. Or at the VERY least, that the improved software found in the new Touchless Controls find their way over to the original Moto X.

In regards to battery life, I hear it's more or less the same as the original X, for what it's worth.

I really want to get back to a Motorola phone. I know everyone has there own opinions, but for me, my next phone WILL have wireless charging. I've wanted that since I got the Galaxy S3 two and a half years ago and I remember that being rumored it would have it, but never did. I love the design of the Moto X but without a removable back cover, wireless charging cannot even be added by the end-user. May not be a big deal for a lot of people, but I love the convenience of it.

I am pretty disappointed. I was REALLY hoping for a micro SD slot or at least 32 GB base model. I am kinda leary about the possible battery life, although it is pure android, so it might be just fine. I think the phone looks great and the camera has been improved. I just don't know that I can give up my S5 with 32 GB and 32 GB SD card for a 16 GB moto x.

I'm willing to give Moto the benefit of the doubt here. The phone, aesthetically speaking, looks great. Lots of people are complaining about specs like the battery and size of storage again, but this happened last year and the phone turned out to be great. I'm going to wait for the reviews and then decide whether I am going Moto or Note 4.

Only if you're happy holding a phablet up to your ear when you make a call. And putting up with Samsung's over-the-top, everything-including-the-kitchen-sink approach to software that won't see an update to Android L for 4-5 months after it comes out (especially if you're on Verizon). Sorry but no thanks.
Personally this is just about what I expected. A bump in specs, additional customization, refinement of the software, and a decent price. I can't believe people are complaining that it's "too expensive" when phones like the HTC One M8 and the Galaxy S5 have the same specs, no customization, *and* are priced higher for an unlocked model. Would it have been nice if it had been under $500? Sure, but I'm not crying about it.

About what I expected.
I am totally satisfied with my 1st gen x. It is in excellent condition and no lag with latest android. I am keeping mine
If and when the new x has a sale price, that is when I will jump the gun

It looks nice. Like the specs. Don't like the battery and don't like the size. I like the original Moto X size and feel, that is what sold me on it in the first place. Hopefully something comes out next year at a similar size and good specs because I really don't want to buy anything bigger than the one I got last year.

My post was pretty negative earlier, but i am getting more excited now after reading stuff about the software and what not. The only thing that really bums me out is the possibility that the battery life might be bad. The little battery pack that they are trying to sell makes me worried...

I am OK with the size boost. Starting at 16 GB with no SD makes me hesitant. The battery is OK if it can go a day with moderate use. I am unsure on the camera until I see more reviews. The few pics I have found from it were mediocre inside under low light

Motorola has data that says 75% of people move to a large phone. Unfortunately, people like us who want to keep phones small are in the minority. For a business standpoint, Motorola had to go bigger.

Yes, the dimple stays silver/grey ish but there is a ring around it that you can customize the color. The black front gets a darker grey like color for sides and dimple and the white face has a more silvery color.
Yeah, I guess the big question is are they actually surveying customers to find out this info or are they basing this info off sales stats from competition. I've sorta heard both ways recently. But idk how you judge the sales statistics since there are no small phones to compare it to. Everything is stupid large now and that's why large phones are selling, because they have no competition.
As for my opinion on the phone.....I'm actually slightly pleased for the most part. The only thing I wish was added would be an IR blaster and wireless charging. But overall I think the device looks more premium.
Just like last year, the price is my main issue with the device. I don't mind the $525 price tag but to start at 16GB is a bit of a disappointment. When you get the bigger version you are pretty much on par with the other flagships out right now that will almost undoubtedly have better cameras.
I haven't yet decided if I'll pony up for this thing at launch or hope that a sale comes down a bit later. But that leather with a black face is a rly sexy device imo.

The first gen Moto X was small compared to the Galaxy S4, One (M7), and G2. They all probably sold better than the Moto X.
It's probably a little bit of both, surveys and sales.
I didn't want Motorola to go as large as they did, but that's what people are buying.
