After using the phone for a week...

Verizon security updates for the Samsung S and Note series only lag 3 weeks behind Google so that's not really a con so I don't really see where you're coming from. The complaints regarding late updates are usually from people who run unlocked Samsung phones instead of carrier-purchased ones. As for platform updates, a lot of new features in the releases have historically been included in the Samsung Experience UI years before Google even implemented them (e.g, picture in picture, night-light, etc.). Seriously, is it that much of con to be on a stable platform release for a couple more months than a buggy one? Personally, I'd rather have a SD-card expansion option vs. a three-week earlier security update.

The only pro you have is really the subjective uplift in camera quality in certain lighting conditions. If you take pictures in the pro mode using the Samsung, the differences are pretty small.

Timely Security/OS updates and camera would still be deal breakers for me. Our values differ.

Love the phone with the exception of the Memory issue, which should be pretty easy to fix.

I got the Pixel 3 four days ago and am coming from a four year old iPhone 6, so obviously any modern phone was going to kinda be amazing to me. I've never had an Android phone and the Pixel 3 is intuitive enough for me so far. I had grown bored of iOS so this is fun.

So let's see, so far what jumps out at me about the Pixel 3:

- The screen is amazing.
- The smoothness of everything is amazing.
- Google Assistant actually does useful stuff!
- Charges SO fast on the included charger, and SO slow on anything else.
- Battery life very good so far.
- Phone is slippery. My google fabric case finally was delivered today which couldn't have happened soon enough.
- Vibrate for things like texts is weak compared to iPhone's.
- I miss iMessage...
- I worry about future-proofedness with the RAM.

Like what.
Do you delete Google activity and history every week.
And turn you phone off and back on every few days ?

I was just deleting songs from now playing history. At around 15-20 songs it starts to slow to a crawl. Didn't delete Google activity and history or turn phone on & off as it happened only on the first few days since I got it.

Agree on many of your points

- Screen is quite good, especially when compared to last years. Still behind the Note 9's screen but still, it is good.
- The smoothness of the OS on a Pixel phone is unrivaled.
- Yes, very fast charging when plugged in. I actually have two Pixel Stands, one for work and one for home, and it is slow going.

I believe RAM management will be fixed in an upcoming update for sure.

What can't be fixed
Screen my calls can't understand anybody.
Google lens is very limited.
Now you are talking about RAM.

Nite vision don't work.

Just to name a few things

Google wasn't ready to release this phone.

Switched from an iPhone X a week ago. I love the phone so far. First time having an Android phone that was running stock Android. I've had horrible experiences with Samsung phones. Only thing I miss about the iPhone is recording videos. So much better. Other then that, I'm content with my Pixel 3 XL

I dont know, seems a like a lot of people do love this phone (not only on this forum but many reviews on Youtube)....sure its got its share of bugs which can hopefully be fixed soon but a lot of people dont consider them deal breakers. im still waiting for mine so i cant comment, but what i can say after reading this forum is the big group here are people who buy every single new phone and critic it to death...for the general user, i think any new phone would impress them it just comes down to what catches their eye.

Screen my calls can't understand anybody. Mine works fine.
Google lens is very limited. Better than anything out there
Now you are talking about RAM. This could be better, but they can fix with an update (IMO)

Nite vision don't work. Not even officially released on the phone yet.

Google wasn't ready to release this phone. I sure am glad they did release it. :)

Had my buddy sitting across the table from me.
He uses o.k. Google everyday.
He called my phone over 3 times.
It never understood him once.
Phone numbers I don't be know called and it never understood what they said.

I somehow got all the 'help' notifications to go away. I'd open the email and it would give me suggestions of what to do. I'd open the Assistant and it would give me suggestions of what to say... STOP.

Now, my only compliant coming from the Original Pixel is the fingerprint reader doesn't drop down the notification as consistently as my original phone did. Pick up the phone, place a finger on the reader, phone opens and take that finger and drag down the scanner and notifications drop down. It's hit or miss on this phone. I'm thinking it's the thickness of the case. I used to have only a bumper on my old phone and this one has a full case so the reader is 'sunk down', sort of.

Instead of doing it with the finger they way you would to unlock, try it just with the tip of your finger.
I had this issue at first, but just doing it with the finger at an angle works very consistent for me now.

Sounds like yours is broken. People I know with it / reviewers have had no issues. So either it is your phone or your buddy.

Was hoping a software update would fix it.
Providing we get one.
My photo shows last software update was in Sept.

i got a pixel 3 over the weekend and I'm digging this phone a lot.

Me too! Got mine yesterday coming from a S8+. Love it so far. Trying to figure a way around Samsungs Tizen OS on my Galaxy Watch so I can get email on the watch from the P3XL, but thats the only quirk I am trying to figure out
