Aftermarket Chargers

Because some manufacturers like to add their own stuff to the standard instead of keeping it the standard :(.

More to it than that though.

Even with standards, companies aren't following specifications correctly.
 
Why so many issues with type c chargers?
The basic issue is that the benefits of the type c standard come from a more complex specification with tighter tolerances, ie less "wiggle room". So it's harder (read: more expensive) to do it right.
