Airpods Pro BT volume is really low

Hi all,

Just bought a new pair of Airpods Pro and connected them to my Galaxy S20. The volume is really low even on the max. I've tried the following:

Enabled developer options
Turned ON "Disable absolute volume"
Restarted phone, re-paired Airpods

Still quiet...

Then I made sure the "Media volume limit" was OFF (in Settings > Sounds & Vibration > Volume)
Restarted phone, re-paired Airpods

Still quiet...

Turned on Dolby Atmos... Still quiet.

Not saying I want my eardrums to bleed, but seriously, this is too quiet.

Anyone able to fix this problem?

Probably because its for iphones you can't adjust it out of the box . , see if you can connect to a iPhone maybe friend or if u have one and adjust the volume there then try on your phone .

My roommate has an iPhone. I'll try calibrating them on her phone. Hopefully that solves it.

I still have my S8 and I tried them with that... They are LOUD. So there's nothing wrong with the Airpods themselves. There's a problem with the connection to the S20. I'm confused.

Anyone have any suggestions?


The S8 is Android 9.
The S20 is Android 10.

Used my friend's iPhone to calibrate them.. they're really loud when connected to the iPhone, but when I connected them to my Android phone they're still quiet.

Is this an Android 10 problem? They sound great on my older Android 9 phone...

Hmmm...you made sure media volume slider is a the way up sometimes that goes overlooked

Also Dolby Atmos is set on music instead of auto modec

Yes for both things. Volume slider all the way up and music setting for Atmos.

Ok , also try resetting network in settings >general management >reset >reset network this does for data,,wifi,Bluetooth need to re-enter wifi passwords, can also try toggle absolute vinegar in developer on and off

None of these steps helped either. I'm at a bit of a loss. I appreciate you trying to help!

I contacted both Apple and Samsung.

The Airpods firmware is up to date. The Samsung S20 firmware is up to date. Neither company had any new troubleshooting ideas. They are now both aware of the issue, although I don't know if that means they'll do anything about it. The Samsung representative said I could downgrade to Android 9 if I went to a certified Samsung technician. They gave me contact info for the nearest repair shop. I called them and they told me they could NOT downgrade my operating system without bricking the phone.

I've tried various volume booster apps. Yes, they all make the volume louder, but they also distort the audio. This is frustrating. I don't know whether I should return the Airpods or wait until someone comes up with a fix. At this point it seems like a fix is not something that is in the near future since neither company was aware of the problem.

I would return them and find something more universal , those are made for iphones get something work both platforms or just the one you on .

When I 1st got my Air Pods Pro was I used my IPad to adjust the settings before I attempted pairing with my Galaxy Ultra. Do you live with someone who owns an IPhone? Believe me the Galaxy Buds Plus are great for the Ultra but the Air Pods Pro sound are far superior.
