Album index not refreshing

I recently moved a hundred or so photos off my phone but the thumbnails still show in the directory view of photo album. I can remove them one at a time, but it's tedious. I can't find a way to refresh it, and can't find the directory where the thumbnails are stored to wipe them out en masse . Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Clear cache in the gallery. That ought to do it.

In Settings go to Applications -> Manage Applications - All then select Gallery and clear cache.

Thanks. That was an excellent idea. Unfortunately it didn't work. "clear cache" is greyed-out. I tried "clear data" but it didn't work either.
