Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 Boot issues

[AC Question]

I recently purchased the idol 3(5.5) and want to root it however when i try it tells me <waiting for device> then when I tried to reboot from the shell it stayed at the Alcatel boot screen which frankly worried me seeing as how i cant just pop the battery out (WHY?)

I'm running Linux Mint and have adb tools,fastboot.When i run "adb devices" it gives me this output
"List of devices attached
