All Sounds Screwed Up

I started up my RAZR MAXX this morning and as soon as it started downloading emails it started playing my rooster alarm sound as notification. Wife did NOT appreciate that! Took me a while to figure out WTH was going on. Then when I checked further, it seems to have switched every sound on the phone to the rooster alarm sound!!!!!

PITA to change everything back, especially all the rings for specific persons.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas WTH is going on?

Between battery problems after the update and now this, I am beginning to think I need to replace this phone.

I have had my ringtones all revert back to default, and have seen other Razr and Razr Maxx owners complain of the same on various forums. Some have also had their notification tones change surreptitiously. I seriously use my ringtones to aurally screen calls, so having them change is really more than annoying to me.

Well, that certainly doesn't offer much comfort. is there any way to back this stuff up so you can restore easily?

I notice they go back to default only after i plug my phone into the computer and use it to pull stuff off of or put stuff on the phone. other than that I keep all my ringtones

Did you try rebooting the phone?

This has been a issue since the Droid x. I emailed motorola and their response was they checked and there is no reported issues on the Droid x and razr, so denial is the way motorola does things.

Yeah, many threads on this (I started one myself). Seems to be an isolated incident for most, happening only once. If it happens again, you may benefit from backing out some apps.

I don't have that many apps installed on this phone. Who has the time for so many apps on their phone:confused:

This is a common issue with this handset. I have been fighting it since launch day of the Maxx. I even had one phone exchanged because of this issue before I realized its a software or hardware problem. I also have a push e mail alert issue the phone not always sends the right tone or sometimes no alert tone at all. One day the handset decided to start playing my music files instead of the set ring tones. Why Motorola has not fixed this is beyond me.

As you said, this does appear to be an isolated incident for most. At least I think so because between the RAZR and MAXX, I have only had this issue 3 times. No idea what triggered it, but I've been using a variation of the RAZR since it came out. I hope its solved shortly so no one has to deal with it for much longer.

This happened to me just minutes ago for the first time. I did 2 things prior to noticing it. The first was that I had to change my corp email account password this morning but did not notice a change at that time. Second was plugging into my laptop and transferred some pictures onto the ext-sd card on the phone. Created a folder on it to put them in. Also attemted to transfer some pictures using bluetooth to the same computer while plugged in to that computer in charge only mode. Who knows. Maybe some or all of that confused it too much:-)
I transfer pictures and movies 'from' the phone all the time and this has never happened before. Anyway, not a big issue for me unless it begins to do it all the time but if it's occasional, then it still won't tarnish the good things about this phone. Maybe an update will address the issue.

I'm sorry to see some of you are having this issue.... Really wish I had an answer for you guys. I did notice that some of you posted that you had the problem happen after you had your MAXX plugged into your computer to transfer files/pictures. I have been using this free app called AirDroid to do the same thing but it connects through my WiFi at home.

Give it a try.... https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...d&feature=apps_topselling_free&token=p2c00Xmq.

Do you have any custom profile app installed? I don't remember which one I tried first, but after I created my custom profiles my sounds got messed up every time I changed a profile (eg, from "Default" to "Bedtime").

I uninstalled that first custom profile app, downloaded Quick Profiles, and I haven't had any sound problems since (knock wood :) ).
