All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know why!!

After spending some time with HTC tech support and doing all kinds of testing I think i figured out why its greening out on us !

Simple test to see, open your camera app, as soon as the display comes up look at the screen, if you see a green hue/tint to the display already thats the issue, now here is the kicker, once the camera auto focus' goes on the green goes away!

So my theory is if you fire off a shot to quicky youll get the green tint/hue everytime - after auto focusing i never have gotten it - very strange! Could be wrong and for what it means it could be a software issue or bad batch type of thing as the rep at RS own phone was having the display green tint issue when just looking at a yellow store bag -

In high light (beach pics) i have it bad - **pic included further down in my post**
3D camera in low light i also got it -

But i also have had decent pics so i think my theory holds up!

Try it - and lets get this figured out as its very frustrating!

6:18PM UPDATE ***JUST GOT A REPLACEMENT BRAND NEW - SO FAR GREEN TINT NO MORE, ALSO SPEAKER SOUNDS ALOT BETTER AS WELL - POST BELOW ***

This is incorrect. Even after auto focus (which the camera does before taking the picture, so even if you rush it it would still happen) my pictures turn out greenish.

Same. I always make sure the focus is there.

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

Is this when you are taking the 3D pictures or standard 2d pictures?

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

I thought it was the White Balance being off. I switch to one of the settings to clear up the green and then that picture is fine, but the next one is back to green and the setting hasn't changed.

Both.

3D Pictures in low light are even worse. It seems the sensor doesn't take the image until the light is almost all the way off, so the flash does next to nothing for 3D photos.

My concerns have been escalated, and I'll be receiving a response back from HTC in a few days.

Hmmm interesting,

As i was just playing with the camera after multiple resets (factory and the like) and it seems to start off green on the display on my phone than when I take a pic its ok,

Also this is weird but to verify you have a green issue focus on white light, i have some sunlight reflecting off my couch, and take a pic of it (flash off) the white light comes out green -

Also yes the 3D does have serious green issues with low lighting, my backgrounds are the main target of the green -

ANyone get a replacement and its NOT green? I can go get one now but i am wondering if its a software issue, also HTC doesnt have a fix for it except for repairing the phone for 6 days -

**pic below is 2D at the beach, plenty of light, very green ...**

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

Just got a replacement (brand new), went into RR and they had some available so it was no problem ...

So far

1. Camera has no tint to it whatsoever ...reps own 3D did though so it def is an issue with others -
2. Interestingly enough i think i also had a bad speaker as now the speaker sounds the same as the 4G was and not like a muffled tunnel!!! Its night and day!

Keep everyone posted -

**anyone think the update could have been the culprit?** Re-downloading it now!

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

ima jump on this wagon here too.

just called sprint and they ran me through 5 FN reps to finally say okie we'll return/refund/exchange the phone.... only to recharge me again until i sent the other one back.. this is so annoying...

i like new things. but sometimes im just toooooo impatient to wait. this phone is the first electronic that had annoyances day 1 for me. this green tint and speaker issues.

Mine seems to have green tint no matter what I try. Also the speaker is very low. I think I may need to exchange it.

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

I spoke to a HTC Rep and emailed HTC about this a couple of days ago. They said they're working on an update to fix the greenish tint issue. I'll give it another week or so. If no update, im just gonna exhange it

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

I have seen on another Android forum that some people had the same issue with the HTC Inspire . There is a big thread on Apple Forums about Iphone 4's doing the same thing.
I'm getting the green tint also on my EVO 3D

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

I spoke to two HTC reps and neither had any clue this wad happening or
That there was a possible ota fix brewing, furthermore here is what HTC emailed me after
Sending them a severly green tinted beach pic, if I didn't know better it sounds like the user
Is at fault not phone....

,

Thank you for your email regarding a green tint to photos and playing of the "Green Hornet" 3D movie on your HTC EVO 3D device from Sprint.

Chris, the camera on your phone is programmed to switch to some scenes, e.g., "Lowlight" to enhance brightness, "Close up" for close distance subjects, and "Portrait" to focus on a person's face. You can also manually select these scenes.

In addition, I recommend you not place the camera too close to the object you are photographing. In addition, if you need to take closer range pictures, please make sure you have enough ambient light to take a clear picture.

If your device continues to experience a green tint on photos, please soft reset it by powering it off, removing the battery, waiting ten seconds, and then reinserting the battery and restarting the phone.

If your device's issues persist, I recommend you restore it to its factory default settings by performing a factory data reset. This will permanently erase all installed programs and data files on your phone; you will therefore want to first back up all files to your storage card or to a third party application from the Android Market. Use HTC Sync to back up Outlook contacts and calendar files, or Google Sync to back up your Google contacts and calendar. Calendar events are color-coded: green for Outlook, blue for Google, and orange for Exchange. You can back up text and picture messages by forwarding them to an email address. It will not affect files on your storage card.

To perform a factory data reset, please press Home > MENU and then tap Settings > SD & phone storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone > Erase everything.

If a factory data reset does not resolve your phone's issues, I respectfully recommend you contact your carrier for further assistance.

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

I have had green lines occasionally, hopefully a software update fixes these issues.

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

anybody know what address to email htc with. My phone is fine for the most part but if i go into the camera app and take a picture it will take and then freeze . It wont give me an error message but then it will just go back into the home screen and when I reopen the app sometimes it will open still frozen and then other times it will reopen and work fine

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

FWIW, Did you guys try the different lighting modes in settings in camera mode? I was getting blue tents and noticed I had it on incondecent mode.. switched to auto.. much better..

Re: All Those With A Green Tint/Hue To Pictures - think I know wh

Whoever emailed you back is clueless.... This is an email I got back a couple of days ago. 3 other people I know with 3D's got very similar emails..

They know there's an issue and it has nothing to do with factory resetting. I'd just hold tight and wait for an update.
