Alphabet Inc. will replace Google Inc. as the publicly-traded entity and all shares of Google will automatically convert into the same number of shares of Alphabet, with all of the same rights. Google will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alphabet. Our two classes of shares will continue to trade on Nasdaq as GOOGL and GOOG.

Android? It will always be first on their list (sorry, couldn't resist).

Won't affect it much, if anything, it might help things a bit. This moves all those far-reaching R&D projects off on their own.... So Google proper can now concentrate on Google, rather than medical research, space exploration, etc.

Those pet projects have now grown into large entities that required their own considerable attention.
 
Wanna bet that there will be automated DMCA requests sent to virtually every website or app offering any form of kid education?
 
I tried Alphabet.com nothing loaded. I tried Alphabetinc.com parked domain site. I tried abcxyz.com parked domain site. What is the url to this new company?
 
Someone else made an umbrella corporation once. It didn't turn out so well. Zombies all over the place...
