Alright Evo fans, what do ya think of our successor?

The main thing that scares me about the non-removable battery has to do with hacking/rooting. There are times with my Evo where I had to pull the battery to get it to respond. No amount of button pressing or plugging it in worked and I don't know what I would've done had the battery not been removable. Seems this is where the industry is headed though :-\

To be fair, this has been discussed repeatedly. The Evo even has a button-press-sequence that does this without having to remove the battery.

You can count on this one having one.

Rooting the new phone without a remove-able battery is dumb...guaranteed to provide nothing but problems. HTC must be throwing down the gauntlet and saying "no more rooting our phones". Go buy somewhere else.

Putting a small non remove-able battery in the new EVO is counter to what most customers that I know wanted.

So which manufacturer is going to be root friendly going forward?

Never had to pull a battery during root on ANY device. Sad for those that struggle, though. Or something.

Honestly, that doesn't really mean anything. Apart from some petty complaint about a non-removable battery.

I have had several EVO's lock up before for no known reason (while traveling). Without being able to remove battery you would have to take to Sprint. So I stand by my assessment regarding remove-able battery.

Glad bleedblue never had to struggle...but most people encounter issues in the real world. Working, traveling, etc. can put a strain on the phone. Perhaps someday you will encounter these issues and understand why a remove-able battery is preferred.

Yep, we know the button sequences. Doesn't diminish the fact that they have NOT worked in the past a few times and all that worked to awaken my Evo was a battery pull. I'm thinking a little reset pin hole under the back cover might be a workaround.

Hasn't worked? I haven't had to resort to this that often, but it's always worked for me. I agree that some type of reset 'hole' could be a good idea. Guess I never thought of it as an issue though as it's never NOT worked on this end.

Highly doubt it. If there are no og EVOs left, I think you'll get the 3D.

Asurion has a plethora of refurb evo's in stock... And they gotta look at price when replacing with new... Something a little more comparable...

Anyways, no removable battery? How do you do a battery pull then?! Every android I've owned needed a few of those....
