Looks like we finally have a true successor to our beloved OG Evo 4Gs. And so, after hearing the announcement from Sprint and HTC today, we are presented with the new Sprint HTC 4G LTE. The specs look good in this one...no gimmicky 3D BS. Expandable memory, check, high def screen res, check, super fast processor, check, upgraded 8mp camera, check, and finally kickstand, CHECK!! The only thing that's missing to me is the removable battery as I like carrying a charged spare around that I can pop in anytime. Release date is set to be Q2 so I'm guessing June just like the original Evo. So, what do you guys think? This might be the phone that finally has me wanting to upgrade after two years. Thoughts??

This does indeed sound like a worthy successor to the original Evo.... A true upgrade unlike those last 2 Evos.

I like it, and will most likely upgrade to it. Shame about the lack of removable battery, though.

I'm getting this on release day no questions asked. I love HTC and I've rocked my EVO waiting for a worthy succesor. This is it for me. :D I will carry an external battery pack if I need to or root and let the Devs tweak the kernel so the battery lasts me all day. However it may not need it with ICS and the Krait processor. New EVO 4G LTE here I come! :D:D:D

I also want a removeable battery and believe the embedded battery feature is a giant Fail...and 2000mah battery is weak -- should be 3300mah at least. The razor maxx has a 3300mah battery (keep up with the competition).

Disappointed.

Actually the 2000mAh battery is pretty decent, grant it, no match for the Maxx battery. If I recall correctly, the OG Evo extended slim battery IS itself a 2000 mAh battery (pick one up on flea bay for ~$15). Also, all of the other popular high-end phones that have been released of late all ('cept Maxx) have a smaller capacity battery than the 2000. I'm sure HTC listened to our gripes regarding battery life with the Evo and other phones and hopefully they implemented some kind of improvements to reflect that.

Is it just me or does the kickstand look like one of those cheese spreader sticks that comes in cheese-n-cracker packs that you get at the 7-11?

What do I think? I know I get 3 paychecks in June. I know my birthday is June 16th? I know my 2nd paycheck is June 15th. So either my check on the 1st or 15th will definitely be spent on this phone. Eligible for a upgrade in December but I have to charge my evo like 8 times a day. Can't wait until December. I WILL HAVE THIS PHONE

You should compare it to just a RAZR and not a Maxx. That's the gimmick of the Maxx is the battery life. The Evo LTE is not based on battery life.

Eligible for upgrade on July 1st. This will be my next phone. A little disappointe din the battery, but definatly not a deal breaker as everything else is great. And being in Dallas, I will be one of the first to get the LTE.

Is there a list of cities that will have access to LTE on Sprint? Also, will Sprint be using their own LTE network or paying to use Verizon's?

I'm in Cleveland, don't know when Lte will be up and running but if the phone is being sold at local Sprint stores in June I'm copping it

I was looking forward to the Evo's sucessor, but doubt I'll be upgrading to this one...at least not at launch.

For one, while most would probably disagree, the physical size is a bit larger than I'd really want. I think the OG Evo is the perfect size for my taste. Second is the 4G LTE. I use the current 4G WiMax network in Charlotte daily at work, and for me it works well. I certainly think 4G LTE will be better, but who knows when Charlotte will be graced with its addition to the Sprint LTE network? In the meantime, since the Evo LTE will not support the WiMax network (at least according to what I've read...correct me if I'm wrong), then it would actually be a step BACKWARD for me, in terms of connection speed.

I do like that they finally remembered to include the kickstand again, though! ;)

Looks like the same design over and over again. With a better screen and better specs. Nothin revolutionary.

And what kind of design would you consider revolutionary? There is only so much you can do with a keyboard-less phone that has a single large screen on the front and a camera lens on the back. I actually think it is quite a unique looking phone at least from the back. There will be no mistaking that color scheme with the glossy and matte panels separated by the red stand. By revolutionary do you mean something like the Kyocera Echo? We all saw how well that was received :-[

I've had both the 4g&3D and to be honest the 3d took balls to mass produce. This rendition is only following the mold. That's all I'm saying. I agree with you there's not much you can do with the phone b sides put in hd screen on it and a bigger processor maybe. Just like everything I believe this trend is becoming the norm. So in my opinion there's nothing wrong with the new evo, it just seems as if evolution is slowing down:(

Seems like a great new phone to me. I'm glad they upped the battery size some (wish it would have been more) but, it's not enough to stop me from getting it. I'll be there drooling on the store windows until I get my hands on one! :D

The main thing that scares me about the non-removable battery has to do with hacking/rooting. There are times with my Evo where I had to pull the battery to get it to respond. No amount of button pressing or plugging it in worked and I don't know what I would've done had the battery not been removable. Seems this is where the industry is headed though :-\
