Finally solved this with the help of the Samsung support site. Need to clear the cache and data of the Galaxy Wearable app.
1) On your phone, navigate to Settings.
2) Click on Apps
3) Navigate to the Galaxy Wearable app and click on it.
4) Click on storage.
5) Clear the cache and data. Touch CLEAR CACHE, and then touch CLEAR DATA > DELETE. All of the Galaxy Wearable app's data will be deleted permanently. This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc.
You will then have to open Bluetooth on your phone and click on the watch to connect it again.
