always on display after Oreo won't shift

I love always on display but now I can't use it for fear of burn in on my note 8. Ever since the update to Oreo the clock stays in the same exact position on my screen and before it would move all over the screen shifting like every minute or so. I know it's not moving at all too because I put a sticker on my screen for 15 minutes to see if there was slight movement but it didn't move at all. Anyone else notice this or have an idea how to fix it?

It changes for me everytime I lock the screen. But then it stays there.

same for me which makes me worry about burn in since when it is on it's not moving

I haven't paid attention to the shifting, but it does seem to be brighter and run the battery down faster, so I've been leaving the phone face down. I guess I should just disable it entirely if its gonna burn my screen, too.

I wish Samsung would allow the brightness to be changed. I don't have oreo yet but on nougat it's far too bright in general and would still be visible if dimmer, and drain the battery less!

I have Oreo on my Note 8 and just set AOD on a timer so that it turns off automatically i.e. mine is set from 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs. That should help prevent screen burn out.

I also notice that if you turn off AOD and try to add a wallpaper to lock screen all I get is a total blank black screen. Note 8 unlocked on Oreo and AT&T.

I have mine on the timer too but a clock being in the exact same place for 10 hours or so a day will still cause issues I think I don't know why they changed it from shifting. I don't have the lockscreen wallpaper problem but I am on the Verizon note 8

I wonder if an AOD app from the Play store would work.

I have a question I have an unlocked Note 8 on Sprint I just got Oreo yesterday and I wanted to see if my always on display had the update where you can do gifs and then I heard video on lock screen. And when I went to my always on display it told me I had an update it started updating and like never finished usually when an app is done you can click open and mine won't let me and I even tried to uninstall the update and redo it no luck any suggestions?

I had Samsung on the phone he couldn't help me he tried to dial into my phone and I told him I uninstalled update and reinstalled and it even said installed but when it took me to the main screen after it said installed it won't let me open and I don't have the latest version with the Gif but got Oreo 2 days ago. Oh well maybe their will be another update soon to correct the bugs from Oreo. I did ask if the Note 8 was getting AR Emoi and he said yes something about when we get a certain update I don't know.

I have noticed my AOD clock all over the place on my screen. It will shift when I lock my phone. I'm not sure if it also shifts when it's just sitting on its own. I want to say I have even seen it shift to a wider variety of places now.

I just use the digital clock, no background.

(unlocked)

Mine shifts when I lock and unlock as well the real problem I see is that when it does just sit there it does not move. The whole point of it moving when it just sits there is to avoid the same image sitting in the same place for hours on end. It used to move when just sitting every couple minutes to prevent burn in.

I use the small clock on the edge and it doesn't shift anymore either. I tried one of the bigger clocks and it only shifts when I lock and unlock. Hope they fix this soon because I really miss my AOD.

Seems the same here, goodbye AOD till fixed!

I did turn the AOD off a few days ago, and my battery life is considerably better now. I miss it a bit, but am loving the way the battery loses almost no charge when I'm not using the phone now.

Yes, I bet I really don't miss it that much. We'll see.

I followed your example and turned off AOD (primarily for the fear of burn in on m screen. Battery life is way better now for me too! Thanks for the tip jsigmo.
