Always on display and notifications...

Similar to another recent thread, I'm having the opposite problem, my aod doesn't turn on with notifications.. only with screen tap (have it set to show on screen tap). Does it not have the ability to come on for a few seconds after a notification? Texts getting lost. Wouldn't mind trying a circle notify app if it will light up when the rest of the screen is off.

Only if the app supports it. Have you tried Edge notifications? I believe those can be set up to light up the screen and blind you at night with a nuclear flash (can you tell I don't like my screen lighting up? :P haha). Most apps that support this kind of behavior, however, are only phone calls and text messages.

Mostly just would like the dim aod to come on for a few seconds when messages gets a text (using messages, not samsung's text app).

As it stands now, I hear the buzz but don't get any info unless I tap the screen. Would be nice during the day for a quick glance.

Edge lighting seems to be mostly when you have the screen on to alert you to a text, etc.

Edge lighting does come on with the screen off. I use it for that reason.

Is there a particular setting? Is it for all notifications? I have it on for messages and it works with screen on.

Just got used to the screen coming on for a few seconds with my old pixel and trying to replicate that behavior. I like the always on display but don't want to tap it all of the time just to glance at a notification.

Also do you have always on display enabled on tap mode / on / or off?

On my phone you can pick and choose which apps you want to use it for. Settings-Display-Edge screen-Edge lighting-Choose apps.

Yes, I did this for Google messages but it does not light up when the screen is off. Feel like it's tied into the always on display settings. (Note 20u).

Doesn't seem to matter what I choose, edge lighting doesn't show when screen is off and nothing wakes up the screen.

Seriously driving me kind of nuts. I don't want the always on display on all of the time. I want it on single tap or when a notification arrives. Not sure why the screen won't come on at all, and no matter what I can't get the edge lighting to work when the screen is off. :(

I have AOD turned off, but I use Edge Lighting successfully. It shows notifications when my screen is off.

You probably already tried this, but just in case... In Edge Lighting settings, did you set the toggle: Show Edge Lighting/Always

Try safe mode if still not working, and also do you have Good Lock app installed?

Safe mode doesn't have connectivity.. so I can't really test notifications. I do not have good lock. Guessing there is something preventing my screen from turning on upon notification... Quick search indicates it's a very common problem with one ui. Maybe 3.0 will improve...

If you don't have connectivity in safe mode means something not right, might want do a factory reset.
