Always on Display inner screen does not go off face down?

Not sure if it's normal, but all my pixels the AOD goes off when face down or in pocket. The 9 fold outer screen works that way, but the inner does not go off when laid face down. Has anyone else experienced this?

Why would you risk damaging the inner screen by doing that?

No risk at all, since I lay it face down on couch or other soft surfaces, plus the inner AOD does not shift like the outer screen does to avoid burn in.
