Always on display not "always on"

I have my AOD set to show always and I use it as a bedside clock at night but I have woken several times to look at the time and the screen is off.

This was never an issue with my s8+

Any ideas?

never mind figured it out had schedule set out of the box.

go to settings, lock screen, always on display and make sure it is set to show always and not set schedule.

Easy work around. Set the schedule and it will always stay on. Worked for me.

Same here. It would be nice if someone had an answer. So annoying.

Turns out that there's also an option called "Display Mode" for the AOD. After a recent update mine was set to "Tap to display" (or something like that) so while it looks like it's off, you just tap the blank screen and it shows up. You can pick "Always on" if you'd prefer or, as the other poster mentioned, put it on a schedule.

FOUND IT! you have to set the 'SMART LOCK' options to get it to work at your location, 'other devices' and trusted devices.

Update: This is the fix. I have tested since last post. I would call this an answered question. END.
