Am I the only one experiencing bad WiFi and worst battery life post #lollipop update #nexus5

On someone's suggestion out here I tried doing factory reset and voila it seems the phone's definitely much better in terms of battery life (only 1% battery use over night keeping wifi and data off) that's bravo! and certainly to some extent much better wifi reception. I would definitely suggest anyone who were facing issues similar to mine shall try the factory reset.

Better WiFi but my battery life is worse with lollipop. I did a factory reset after the ota but the battery life is still poor.

My SOT has gone up about 10% but the biggest improvement is standby time. WiFi is fine with no problems.

I agree SOT is terrible if I wake the screen up and load one website I can see the battery go down but standby time is about the same.

My Nexus 5 is completely hosed after the update. I have no wifi, and cannot turn it on. My phone goes into an endless Android reboot loop whenever it tries to sleep, which heats up my phone and drains the battery rapidly if I don't interrupt it. It does this in safe mode too. I've found others online with the exact same problem - waiting for google to give a crap...

Yes, since the update I can practically watch my batter drain right before my eyes.

This morning I had my phone in airplane mode and turned on the wifi twice, once while I was at starbucks for 30 minutes, the second time I forgot to turn it off at the hotel when I was done looking something up.

Prior to the OTA lollipop update it was never anywhere near this bad, I never had to juggle my radio settings even when things were spotty and intermittent.

Wow, that IS bad. Looks like a black diamond. I did a factory reset right after updating and my wifi improved (well, the signal strength on the display anyway), and my battery life is significantly better with everything turned on (location, wifi, Google now). Thr only thing I turned off is the OK Google voice activation.

Yea I've tried all the things that don't require root access. I factory reset it, I disabled/uninstalled google fit, deleted as many apps as I could including facebook. Didn't have any messenger apps. Nothing has made a difference. When I'm in complete airplane mode, it will last 24+ hours, second I turn on wifi or cellular radio, less than 2 hours. When I get home I will root the phone and see what wakelock detector and whatnot can tell me.

Yeah, I can watch my battery drop when using Chrome.

Phone performance is still wonderfully fast, and it never lags. But the battery is worse, the wifi is worse and the notification modes suck.

So it turns out that it was my battery, go figure, I had a new one shipped and installed it a couple days ago, since then my battery life has been stellar

Could you please post the link with the replacement battery you bought ?
I also got this one from ebay: "ebay.com/itm/361075010454" (cannot post links), but I cannot get more than 2 hours SOT from it, it's driving me crazy.
What is your stellar battery life? More than 4 hours SOT ?
Thanks.

For me, disabling the "Fit" app seems to have changed my battery performance from fully discharging in 5 hours without being used after the Lollipop upgrade to a more reasonable performance similar to how it was with 4.4.

Hi,
Sorry to bother you, but could you tell me if your replacement Nexus 5 battery has a varies temperature?
I mean if the temperature goes up to 35 Celsius when it's charging or you're playing games, of if it goes down to 25 when it's idle.
Because my replacement battery always stays at 29 degrees Celsius, no matter how I use the phone.
I think mine might be bad, but I want to check with someone else before buying another one.
Thanks.

This is the battery I bought, ebay.ca/itm/151358477463 I haven't really tested the SoT because I tend to have mine plugged in at work, in the car or on the QI charger when I'm home but it lasts long enough that I don't notice it as a problem.

My battery life took a major nosedive since updating to Lollipop a few weeks ago. After about 3.5 hours of power use (playing music saved to phone over bluetooth, loading and reading different web pages and apps, sending texts, etc.) my phone drops to about 35-40%. Before I'd generally be at about 50-55% under a similar regimen.

Man, that's not good. Any worse battery life than this phone already has would make it unusable for me. Im sticking with kk for now.

Yeah. My plan was to stretch this phone for two years but this last 8 months will be much more annoying now.

I'm running Franco kernel stock rom now but before that I did notice a hit on the battery life too. Maybe the 5.1 update this month will solve it..

My wifi is fine and the phone runs fine. However, I would say battery life is 33% - 50% worse. Where I used to be able to get a day and a half or more out of my phone - now I can barely make it through a day. Since the update I cannot get to 2 hours of on screen time. I have very few apps, and all have been updated since Lollipop was released. I really like Lollipop, but the battery life is appallingly bad.
