Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performance?

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

If you are not happy with it, go to something you are happy with...no need to start a thread!!! Duhhhhh!!!!!

Like I stated I'm already back on my Nexus S and awaiting what else comes out. Evo 3D is on ebay as I speak...

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

After reading nearly 100 replies...

Yes, you are in fact the only one who is disappointed.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

Outside of the 3D capabilities, what does the EVO 3D do that the Nexus S doesn't? I'm not saying the Nexus S is better but where is it lacking as far as performance that the EVO delivers on?

The Nexus S is missing:
1. Facebook Contacts sync
2. Facebook Calendar sync
3. Facebook photo and status sync for caller ID
4. microSD card
5. A 4.3" screen
6. Ability to break up SMS over 160 characters
7. Notification LED.
8. The other core.

If you are a developer who will root the phone to put back the key missing features, maybe it makes sense but you can't put back the missing LED or microSD.

What are you talking about? I am far from the only person disappointed in the phones gaming performance. If you really want to start listing off missing features lets see here... Nexus S has all these advantages...

1. Super Amoled Display
2. Non washed out colors... O yes the Evo 3D colors are downright awful next to my Nexus...
3. FREE TETHERING THROUGH SPRINT.. Not so free for the Evo 3D
4. NFC Chip
5. Much better quality camera
5. Longer battery life with a smaller battery
6. Immediate updates from Google
7. Earbuds included in the box
8. Better sounding speakerphone
9. Better feel in your hand due to being so lightweight
10. Most important it runs all games smoothly!

Also your argument about NO LED can be easily fixed with the NO LED app. It actually is better than just a blinking green light as it tells me on my screen all my missed notifications without even having to turn the phone on. Who cares about MicroSD? 16GB is plenty for a smartphone and I dunno why anyone would need to take it out unless going to Walgreens to print photos but I am pretty sure you can do that through USB anyways. SMS issue and Facebook issues will most likely be taken care of with future updates.

The Evo 3D is a great phone I am not denying that! But it has its shortcomings just as every phone does on the market. The main problems with the Nexus is the WIFI and cellular signal strength. Personally I have not had any problems with cellular signal but Wifi is absolutely awful. I can be standing 5 feet from the router and lose 1 bar. Hopefully this will be taken care of as well with a future software update...

I only play Angry Birds and it works fine, so yeah just you.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

The epic outperforms the evo and it's still on froyo. when the epic receives GB I think it will be on par with the 3d.

I currently use both the epic and the evo 3dand can tell you that the e3d blows the epic out of the water as far as performance, samsung has a history of giving incrementally better hardware than everyone else, the problem with them is that the software leaves much to be desired ie.... Random reboots...phone numbers not arriving in my call log, proximity sensor not working, frozen screen orientation, lock screen clock widget cut in half, couldnt see the date.....plus numerous other quirks that have made me weary of their products.....the update to froyo brought more problems than it fixed....so while they may make a phone that is screaming fast....ie epic...sgs2, i doubt they have or will offer software that meets the stability that one would expext from the hardware that they put on their phones.

Those games that arent performing well just need to be optimized for the e3d chipset, give it sometime....once again developers are gonna make sure alltheir games run well on e3d because this will be one of the most popularandroid phones on market.....just look at how many places selling the e3d aresold out.....the lastphone that happened with was the og evo.... Being a early adopter means that the phone will have kinks that need to be worked out and if you wanted a phone that plays every game flawlessly and performs perfectly, then wait a month or two when htc has developed fixed for the MINOR prolblems we have with this phone.

Hope this helps
Have a great day

This should come as no surprise. Qualcomms Snapdragon is notorious for its lackluster performance while gaming. Its not a gaming platform plain and simple. The Nexus S is the better unit to game on. The EVO 3D excels elsewhere but gaming is not one of them.

Its been the Snapdragons achilles heal from day 1. Dual Core or not.

Two things to say, first why are you comparing a newly released phone with a chipset that only one other phone on the market has, to a developer phone nexus s, of course the games all run better on the nexus s....games were updated to gingerbread with the nexus s in mind......second of all, the adreno 220 gpu is faster in benchmarks than the hummingbird and matches the tegra 2 nvidia gpu.......one half of the gaming puzzle is hardware the other half is software optimization.....you can have the most powerful pc in the world but if a game isnt being coded for it, then it is possible that less powerful systems that are optimized to run the game will run it better......dont ignore facts when trying to make your argument, they are not optional

Amen brother. No phone out there does EVERYTHING that you could ever want it to. HOWEVER, dont bash the OP because thats what forums are for. It's for ppl to squabble about their opinions and ideas, and here comes mine. Evo 3d is awesomesauce, but due to the fact that its only been out for a couple days, it will take a while to get some updates to optimize performance as far as gaming and compatibility with games and apps in general.

I completely agree, but there's a difference between voicing an opinion, and doing so 30 times, while arguing with everyone who replies voicing the opposite opinion.

True enough. It does feel a little like i'm being forced to agree instead of voicing an opinion. :P Oh well. We'll just have to wait for a sweet update that double enhances the phones already stupid awesome performance and then laugh cuz his will be sold on ebay. No offense thrash. ;) I could always be wrong. 0_o

I actually spoke to HTC today about an issue I'm having with the greenish-tint to low light photos, and they said there was another update coming out soon to address a few different things.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

A device can only be tested on a limited basis before it is released. There is no way to catch every bug out of the box. Especially on an open platform. I switched from the Evo 4g to the 3vo on launch day and immediately installed all my favorite apps. The 3vo may not be for everyone, but to say it lacks performance is laughable. This phone truly does fly. I've intentionally tried to bog it down with multi-tasking, and have not been able to force it to lag. Regarding gaming, I would say wait for the developers to write games optimized for this hardware. Digging deeper, this phone manages memory much better than my Evo 4g did. Even after installing all of my apps, I still have .95gb of internal memory. I respect your opinions, but everyone whose tried my 3vo have literally said "wow".

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

So if I don't care about games, but do care about
  • Screen readability
  • Call quality
  • Connectivity
  • GPS
  • Battery life
  • System stability
then I should be happy with the 3D compared to the EVO 4G and similar phones by HTC, Samsung, etc.?

Fonts are smaller on the EVO 3D, but I have no issue reading them.

Call quality is fantastic, and it's great that my earpiece doesn't have to be at full volume in order to hear people, as I have the hearing of an 80 year old man, basically.

I get signal on par with my EVO 4G

GPS is just fine, never had an issue with it on either EVO.

Battery life is AMAZING.

I get a few force closes once in awhile, but nothing major.

I'm very pleased coming from an EVO 4G.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

I think one thing people are forgetting is that the 3D has a totally different resolution and if an app isn't coded to be resolution agnostic then it'll have issues. Try padmapper. it's locked into the 800x480 resolution and looks awful. a lot of the game issues I believe can be written off to the resolution diff. and it'll be addressed by all active developers since qHD is quickly becoming the new standard at the high end.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

I think its to soon to try and find disappointment in this phone.. 2 Months from now.. Sure... But its only been out just a few days. There is alot of things that still need to be tweaked and worked out software wise. Let them do that and get the bugs out and optimize the phone and its performance, Also how much code in programs apps and games are not even taking advantage of what the phone has to offer yet? Are there many things coded to do dual core? I doubt it. Personally I find the phone to be Amazing. Does it have its issues yes. No phone will be perfect for every person. Let alone its still just to early. If you find you dont like it. Maybe its not your cup of tea. There is nothing wrong with that.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

I miss the super amoled display in the nexus, but the evos display is okay. The evos call quality was not as good as the nexus, but I can live with that too. I just wish htc made a better looking design like the sensation. The front of the evo just doesnt look as good as other htc phones, but maybe I am nitpicking a bit.. Despite a few things I dont like as much, It is still among the best devices on the market. Lets hurry and unlock the bootlader htc.

Re: Am I the only one here disappointed with this phones performa

Snapdragon Dual-Core > Hummingbird Single Core end of story.

There is NO way a Nexus S is a better gaming platform than the Evo 3D.

Benchmarks go out the window when package fails to live up to the numbers. Its like saying I can run a 5 minute mile but only when the ambient temperature is 65 and the barometric pressure is low.

I'm not interested in hearing about this needs to be updated and that needs to be coded and on and on. Plenty of devices perform otb. Its just not HTC's/Snapdragon strong suit (gaming)
