Am I the only one not having network issues....?

I work in Indianapolis (more like Plainfield) and live in Marion Indiana. 3G has always sucked in my zip code in Marion (we have 46952 and 46953), with even the phones in the Sprint store in 46953 having problems with 3G. However, the 3G here in Indy and Plainfield is great, and I never have dropped calls, dropped 3G, or slow browsing speeds. We don't have 4G yet (and will probably never get it :-\) so I can't test that.

Am I the only one who just (for the most part) completely loves their Nexus and has no HUGE problems with it? Did I just get lucky? Is it just my area?

Nope! I'm in the same boat as you. Love my NS4G! No complaints about signal with any of the radio's.

Same boat as the OP, no noticeable problems with mine. The wifi range seems a little weaker compared to my EVO but with 3G and voice have not had any issues. I have 4G in my area but just don't use it.

Nope. Though, 4G is off for us. Two phones, both seem ok. Visually, they show a bar less than my Pre. Functionally, doesn't seem to have issues so far (our home actually is in a weak signal spot, but just barely. I should get an airwave, but didn't push the issue).

Wifi signal has been strong, just a basic 802.11g linksys running dd-wrt.

I'm with all of you. I do have an Airave and it makes a big difference here at home. But, my Pre wouldn't get a signal either without it My town doesn't have 4G but it's not a big deal. Outside of my home I don't have a problem and yesterday when I was in the mountains, started out not having a signal but it eventually found one and I was able to connect. So, I am a happy camper.

I am also having a problem with dropped calls (In areas that were not a problem for my Pre). At work and at home I have 4g (am in the Boston area). I use wireless both at work in home to get around the data problem, but even running wireless I experience problem where apps can't connect (but work on retry). I love this phone and will be having sprint check out my phone (I think this one has issues with the phone and hope Sprint will exchange it for one that works).

(For reference I live about 30 miles south of San Francisco near Palo Alto, and I work in downtown Oakland)

Wifi shows less bars at home, but it performs fine.

My 3G is about the same as with my Pre. I can't really tell much of a difference. I think it shows a few less bars at home, but again it doesn't perform any differently.

As for 4G, I don't use it at all if I'm moving. On a train or in the car, it constantly connects and disconnects and falls back to 3G, but it doesn't fail gracefully. If a webpage is loading or an app is downloading/streaming the app will always error when it switches, which is a pain. For that reason I usually leave 4G off - unless I'm staying in one place.

At my office, I have great 4G signal and it almost feels like I'm using wifi. It works great for downloads and streaming music (Pandora/Google Music) and I haven't had it drop on me while not in the stairwell or elevator.

Overall I'm happy with my signal/coverage.

My experience is similar to that of ramk13's. Have an Airave at home so my wifi is good there, and I get good 4G at work. When I'm between both, 3G works well. I do see a weaker signal but overall it hasn't affected my phone or data. Web pages load quickly and I don't think I've dropped any calls.

I wish my phone worked like yours. I'm in the LA area and you'd expect to get great reception here but compared to my old Samsung Moment, I don't. It sucks because I left T-Mobile for that very reason, their reception sucked and Sprint's reception was awesome but it's just the Nexus phone.

What part of LA? I am in Anaheim by Disneyland and I have zero issues. I get 2-3 bars of 3G, 1-2 of 4G and pretty decent speeds on both. Wifi works fine too. However, when I traveled about 60 miles east to Lake Perris, I would drop to no bars and even went into 1x and roaming a brief time or two. Same thing in a few restaurants with bad reception. Havent had any dropped or missed calls though.

I'm not having any network issues with mine either. I live in Phoenix, Az. I live in an apartment & can pickup the apartment complex's wifi while sitting on my couch & it's all the way across the parking lot. I also drive a truck for a living & have no signal issues anywhere I've been. Had an evo since launch day & bought this phone for full price even after reading all about the signal issues. I'm glad I did, cause this thing smokes my evo in just about every way!!

I am the exact same way! I'm loving my phone and not experiencing any problems! Also I was in indy last week and had 3g the entire time with great signal except when I was deep inside St Vincent Hospital.

I live in Whittier and even basic 3G is spotty. I'll go visit my gf in Orange and can barely keep any kind of connection to stream off Google Music which really sucks. Only time I reliably get a good signal is when I'm on ground level at work in downtown LA. All these places I would get good 3G with my Samsung Moment.

I live in Greenwood (about 20 miles away maybe), I have zero problems, great reception, download speeds, etc., so I'm with you - so happy I switched, loving my phone.

My husband kept my Epic, rooted and rommed to get and keep service after all the upgrades. I get more bars of service side by side, right now 2 out of 4 vs his 2 out of 5 on 3g. I haven't done the tests to see what they are pulling, but his bars used to bounce around in our home without moving, mine doesn't.

If you guys are rooted and having issues, might buy and download Roam Control - this forces phone (if you select) and forces onto Verizon towers. I use this at my lake home which has always been a spotty roam area - now good reception, no more dropped calls. And before you make the roam comments, I use this
only when I need to, so no more roam percent than if on normal service, I just get better reception and much better battery since the phone isn't always searching.

And as for 4g - it supposedly works at Indy Intl Airport (haven't tried) and supposed to be online for the Superbowl here next year.

just an update....

I do SOMETIMES have weak Wi-Fi signal at times, and the problem where, although the icon indicates I have full Wi-Fi signal, things don't connect or w/e. I did have that SOMETIMES with my Epic and other devices, but it's a little more prevalent on the Nexus. I don't get as great a distance with Wi-Fi as my Epic either....at least I don't think (I just started my new job, and I had the Epic. I just moved to a new cubicle, and I now have the Nexus, so I never had a chance to tell if the Epic got good Wi-Fi coverage back here or not.)

Other than that, 3G has been fine for me. Now that I have been paying a little closer attention to it, I do notice that I will have like 0 zero bars at times in places where I should have like maybe 2. However, I never paid any attention to it because the phone still performed. I could watch YouTube (lots of times in HQ), browse sites in an illusion of nearly Wi-Fi speeds, etc...


On a side note....the battery life on this thing is AMAZING....granted I am using a black wallpaper, but my Epic could never get NEARLY as much on screen time as my Nexus on even CUSTOM ROMS with a black wallpaper.....and I actually have more stuff syncing and wireless networks location type settings on than I did on the Epic. It just goes to show how much CRAP carriers and manufacturers do to these phones....I don't think I could ever go back to a carrier-based phone again, and I could stick with this Nexus for like 3 years (as long as it receives maybe 2 updates lol)

I just moved from my lauch-day Palm Pre to a Nexus S 4G. I live in Brooklyn, NY and work in downtown Manhattan and have seen the same 3G performance that I saw on my Pre (which was fine). Just tried 4G from my office - which is not the best location for 3G reception according to the bars although it works fine - and I caught and held the 4G signal readily.

mine has been fine since i bought it,sometimes it shows no signal but works fine still havent dropped a call since i got this phone
