Am I wrong to still want a pixel 2 XL?

So I have a short list of pixel 2xl, v30, huawei mate 10 pro or htc u11+. All have things which bug me in a slight way. But for some reason I keep going back to the pixel. Yes they've had some QC issues but sure by now everyone not working on something is in that department checking phones. Yes they've had their screen issues which I believe have all been sorted with the November update, except the blue hue when tilted (who views their phone at that angle anyway) plus I use action launcher and have dark menu screen so have very little white on my phone. I plan on keeping this next phone till it falls apart and having 3 years of updates and 2 year warranty from Google appeals to me. Please convince me either yes or no as £800 is alot of money for me, thanks.

It's a good phone. Some and I stress some phones had issues, not all and google has not only stood behind them, extended the warranty and has made software changes to address issues.

I'd say, if the P2XL is what you want, get it. If you're not satisfied, return it within the return window.

I'm betting, you won't return it.

If you want the Pixel 2 XL, go for it! Honestly, these reports of blue tint at specific angles... Well, a lot of it is a combination of users with said issues versus media hype. And those media outlets have biases; and those always need to be taken into account. In fact, now that I think about it, I've seen way more news/media articles about issues with Pixel 2 phones than I have with iPhone X/8, etc. Now, that could either be because said phones don't have as many issues; or, again, because the media outlets are biased towards specific platforms.

Plus, users are more likely to report negative reviews/problems/feedback of products than they are to post praise reports or positive feedback; which vehemently distorts the population of "affected devices."

And this two-year Google warranty is a great customer service punch by Google to fix this issue. Google makes quality products, and every product line from every manufacturer will undoubtedly have issues of some kind at some point. Samsung, Apple, LG... Everyone seems to have their "turn." No phone is immune from problems, bugs, glitches, or hardware abnormalities; but what the phones' manufacturers do to combat said problems really helps them to stand out above the rest. Google has done a great job of that.

My friend actually just pulled the trigger on a 2 XL this past weekend, and also thinks the issues with the device are being over-hyped.

If you want the device, I think now is a really good time to grab one! You have a warranty in case anything happens; and Black Friday is right around the corner. Don't worry! And let us know what you decide!
