hi i want to dowload the amaze file manager i dont have f-droid so i wanted to get it from the play store now is it the same version and is it 100% save to download it from there? and more important should i grant it SAF access
thx
(and i know that i could just download f-droid but its easier this way so im just asking if its as trustworthy as it is from f-droid)

The Play Store will be much safer than F-Droid, and would have the most up-to-date version of the app. F-Droid itself is of questionable legitimacy, since it may have what are essentially pirated apk files (so we generally do now allow discussions about it).

F-Droid is a repository for free, open source apps. They sign their apps, so they are usually safe and will remove pirated apps if they are reported.

Banning discussion of them is the wrong thing to do.

Ok, they do seem to have a reasonable security policy: https://f-droid.org/en/docs/Security_Model/

However, a quick search did turn up some apps there to access Pirate Bay. Let me check in with some of the other Mods about this.

Just for some cold perspective, if you enter the correct search terms on Chrome, Firefox, Samsung internet or any other browser you will also get results that will allow you to access the pirate bay and any other piracy website. So if you ban F-Droid you should also ban discussion of browsers.

I don't think discussions on how-to are the same as actually being a resource that provides the actual tools. We absolutely do not allow discussions on any sites that definitively provide pirated apks, because (a) it's illegal and (b) we feel that developers should be supported.

The Mods will continue discussions about F-Droid offline. This thread will be closed since I can foresee it going off on a tangent that is not directly related to the OP.
