had the same problem on my Pixel phone - hangs up on the start up screen with a spinning wheel. Here's what I did to get it working.

1. Turn off WiFi and turn on cellular data
2. Kill the alexa app if it's running
3. Start the alexa app - it started up just fine
4. Turn on WiFi and turn off cellular data
5. Restart alexa

This worked for me. Had called Google and Amazon and they weren't much help

Make sure about the Compatibility fro device
Android 5.0 or higher
IOS 9.0 or higher
After verifying compatibility, here some solutions to solve a problem
Force close the app.
Restart your phone or device.
Uninstall and reinstall the app.

My app opens but when I try to go to the sounds screen to change alarm sounds and such it is a blank screen. Under every device. Everything else in the app seems to work fine. It's just the sounds screen.

I have noticed this exact problem on my Samsung Galaxy S7. I have tried changing the screen resolution, uninstalling/reinstalling, wiping the cache partition, and installing the same app from the Amazon App store instead of the Google Play store.

Nothing has fixed this. Have you found anything?

Try disabling notifications in your phone settings. Sounds strange but it fixed the issue I had when I would hit the "listen" button in the Alexa app and it would crash. Worth a shot. I found it in a Miui forum after searching for days.
