Amazon's tablet is coming, but what will it be? It's something of an open... - gdgt

BGR and Engadget both linked to this blog post this morning talking about something I think a lot of us assumed was inevitable.

I for one am very excited about this. I had a Xoom for a month, and while I enjoyed it, I really missed having a true media content supplier that integrated well into the tablet and allowed me to consume entertainment easily.

If Amazon and Samsung pull this off and really deliver an impressive piece of hardware (solar charging body, new screen technology, etc.) it will be on a lot of wish lists.

I wonder how they will integrate Amazon's Android store in there. Will/can they take out the Market in favour of their own or will the tablet have both.

I could imagine a UI skin that tightly integrates all of the Amazon services along with other Google services that Amazon isn't competing with. At the same time, there no reason that the Android Market can't live in the installed apps and just not featured as a UI application.

God, I hope not. I'm all for Amazon including it as an option on devices, but I hate the idea of removing the Android Market altogether.

Dual-function Screen

For book readers it's good. They could create a screen that can show beautiful images like AMOLED does and also turn into a "no-light-emiting" screen like E-ink. It would be perfect and hard.

I heard that supposedly their developing two tablets. One 7" and a 10". That's all I've heard other than October seems to be the month slated for release.
