Is there a way to watch Amazon Instant Video on the Bionic (or any Android device, for that matter)? I can't believe there's not an app available. Haven't found a solution yet, even though I've searched these forums.

Stock Bionic 6.7.246/Android 4.0.4

Thanks

Use a Web browser. Go to amazon.

But I agree, should be an app for it. I think I'll check the amazon app store.

Nothing in the Amazon App store for this.
I have sent a request for such an App to Amazon. Let's see how they respond.

On my tablet (Toshiba Excite) I can watch it through
my browser, but I had to install an archived version of Adobe flash
to get the videos to play.

Yeah I can play it through the stock browser since I put Flash on my Bionic the day I got it. But with Flash support being discontinued, I really want to see an Instant Video app

Ever since the JB update, I can't even watch Amazon Instant Video through web browsers now. Flash is still installed and works on other sites just fine. Any ideas?

I just spoke with support from Amazon.com. The new version of Streamlite they use for the instant video service has closed a "loophole" that allowed videos to play on non supported devices which is any android device other than the Kindle Fire. FYI... movie previews and commercials play fine but the actual movie or TV show will not begin to play at all. Bummer. They have an Amazon Instant Video app for the iPad and iphone but not for us!

That really sucks but thanks for the info. They really should provide us with an app. Wonder if anyone will find an exploit for Streamlite...

Typical.

"Hello,

I understand you'd prefer an app or feature of streaming or downloading Amazon Instant Video titles on Android devices. Currently, as mentioned, the feature or app isn't available.

I appreciate your thoughts, and I've forwarded your suggestion to the Amazon Instant Video team and they'll look into this for future improvements.

Customer feedback like yours is very important in helping us continue to improve our Amazon Instant Video service.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best regards,
Karthik V"

I originally thought that to be the case, but it doesn't make sense when you consider that hardware (i.e. the Fire or a rumored settop box) is a low profit margin item if not an outright loss leader. They're spending a lot of money securing exclusive rights to shows, so why settle for a few bucks once selling a Fire when you can make $79 per year from people signing up for Prime to use on their existing Android devices, which are nearing one BILLION units?

When I thought they were trying to force Fire sales, it made sense. Now, it doesn't remotely make any. I can't even imagine what is behind such a clearly foolish decision.

The only reason I am keeping amazon is it's cheaper then netflix per year and you get free 2 day shipping it pays for it's self so I can wait till they get their heads out of their A$$'$ and get us a working app. It will happen it may take a while but it will come.

It's pretty much why I still use my Kindle Fire...

I have Amazon Prime as well for the same reasons. I love the instant video app on my iPad 3 but was strongly wanting to get the new Samsung Note 8. Very disappointed to find out this app isn't available. How shortsighted and stupid.

I am wrong there is an android app that works its Google TV. However there is a catch none of the operating systems can run it. I think it will be able to be used on either jb 4.3 or klp whichever os they release next.

Amazon isn't exactly loosing money or lacking developers. Are they just waiting for the Gurus over at XDA to do it for them? Personally, I'm pxxxed off at Amazon as there was no warning when they decided to drop off the Android PLANET with the exception or their "lackluster KINDLE. I have dozens of purchased movies (purchased means OWN if anyone at AMAZON is listening). As I purchased the bulk of these movies on an ANDROID DEVICE, that may be enough to file a lawsuit asking for a refund for the movies I purchased with no noticeable disclaimer at the time. My Son-in-law is a corporate attorney. This "lack of customer/device support" has class action written all over it. ANYONE INTERESTED? If Amazon won't listen to their customer base, they will listen to their board of directors and stockholders. They're walking a very thin line by supporting iOS, Microsoft, and their own Android Kindle. In my case, over 90 percent of my movie collection can be repurchased on Google Play or other companies were I to receive a full refund. In this new age of media, why would a Fortune 500 Company choose not to support the fastest growing market on the planet? This meets both Monopoly and Discrimination criteria. If you haven't noticed yet, I'm furious being the owner of a Nexus 4, 7 and Hisense Sero 7 pro as I patiently await the arrival of my $35 dollar Chromeview adapter which will let me stream everything directly to my Hdtv, except of course, my Amazon library. For that I'll need to bust out a laptop, buy a Kindle, a gaming system, or a Smart TV. Google made all of that unnecessary with their new Chromeview adapter. WAKE UP OR PAY UP AMAZON, People are starting to take this serious.

I have a droid RAZR maxx HD and Amazon prime says my device isn't supported to watch prime despite my downloading and install of flash player 11.1 so what gives man!
