This is Amzon's response on why some apps show updates in Google Market but not in Amazon Market. It sounds like the problem may not be amazon, but the developers themselves.

Hello,

Thank you for your recent inquiry about app updates. I am so sorry that we are not offing the latest updates to 100 pushups, super dynamite fishing, guns and glory, and wordsmith, Spanish translator.

Updates for your apps will automatically be made available in "My Apps" once the developer submits the app, and it's approved by our Review Team.

Depending on when the developer submits the app for review this may result in the update being available after other marketplaces.

Our goal is for Amazon Appstore customers to have a great experience with every app they order. As a result, we test all apps and updates prior to making them available in our store to verify that each app works as outlined in the product description, does not impair the functionality of the mobile device, and does not put customer data at risk once installed.

You can let the developer know you'd like to see their updates made available in the Amazon Appstore by submitting feedback on their website.

I hope this helps! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Way to pass the buck Amazon...Free apps from Amazon, paid apps from the market...this trend would speed them up considerably Im sure.

That's just not right if Google approves the update then amazon should not have to re test it. And vice versa

I had the same problem here's the fix:

Go to the '.android_secure' folder and delete the 'smdl2tmp1.asec' file. You'll need to plug it into your computer and make sure you can see invisible files/folders. That file often gets corrupted, but the OS will remake it once it's gone.

Interesting I'll have to check it out thanks!

Is this the '.android_secure' on the sd card? I don't have that file in there, but I have 2 others from random apps with the same extension. Definitely have show hidden file on.

Yes, the file is on the SD card. I wonder why can't see it if you have changed explorer to show you hidden files. I had the same problem and someone gave me the solution here on the forums. It worked like a charm. I no longer have problems installing or updating any apps. Insofar as Amazon, they gave me the same lame answer.

Does this only fix google market not updating then?

All I have in there are the 2 below. I can't see these files on my phone with root explorer (with show hidden file on), but can on the comp with show hidden files and folders on, so I assume I'm attempting everything right. Bummer.

com.dgo.VitalPlayer-1.asec
com.galapagossoft.trialdemo-1.asec

Yes. Because we all know that Google never lets in apps with malware in them on the market.

Maybe Amazon just wants to do it right?

If you can't see the file, trying turning off the phone and reading the card on a computer (allowing for hidden files to be seen) but you should be able to accomplish the same by plugging the phone and using drive mode.

I have no problem with Amazon wanting to be sure the apps are safe to install and work properly.

Had no luck with this fix. I had the file in the appropriate folder however it was not a hidden file. I deleted the file and proceeded to do a restart. When the phone restarted I could still not install or update certain apps. The error I receive from the Android market is "Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card." I receive this when trying to install the game "Falling Fred" or updating the app "DailyRoads Voyager" I also have trouble with the Amazon market installing apps "Safari!HD" and "iCookbook" as well as updating the app "Fieldrunners HD" Some apps install and update with no issues while others cause these errors to occur. It seems like this started after install the new Android market. I have not yet tried reverting to the old market as I am not quite sure how to go about doing that.

That is peculiar. That fixed my problem and it has not recurred (here's hoping I don't jinx myself!). Maybe someone else can offer you a solution. I'm sorry.
