Alright, I started receiving nowinstock alerts and decided to finally, after more than a month (ordered Dec. 20th, cancelled Jan 24th), cancel my awaiting champagne dock order from Amazon. I don't know why they didn't receive any of the batches of champagne ones from ASUS, or if they did, I don't know why they wouldn't ship mine out, but I jumped on the newegg deal. Here's where I made my mistake: Minutes later, another alert came, this time for Tiger Direct. Now, I've never done business with them before, but it said 149 with "free shipping", which, I had to pay for shipping ($5) for Newegg, and I knew I had to act fast, so thinking I was being super quick and sly, I cancelled the newegg one minutes after ordering it, then ordered from tiger direct. Since I had to create an account and everything, I just sped through it as fast as possible. Little did I realize that Tiger Direct was charging me $8.67 sales tax on the thing, bringing my total to be MORE expensive than my Newegg total was. Boy did I feel stupid.
Of course, by this time Newegg's site now says "Auto Notify" instead of in stock, but I was even willing to cancel the tiger direct one and wait for a new alert for Newegg and save the extra money (yes, I'm that cheap and poor. Judge me all you want). However, and this is just my opinion, but, tiger direct's site is a little shady honestly. I searched all over as quickly as I could, trying to find where to cancel my order. It was absolutely and utterly ridiculous. I must have searched that site, and my confirmation e-mail, for 20 minutes just trying to cancel my damn order before they processed it and would no longer allow me to alter it (which, in the e-mail, they warned would come very quickly because it's "such a hot item"). Finally I saw that you have to call a damn telephone number (which doesn't lead you directly to the cancelling side of things, either, it's more a general number) to cancel your order. Totally ridiculous and unnecessary. Perhaps I'm naive or ignorant, but I have never come across a well-reputable site that makes it so extremely difficult to cancel your order, and the way they warned me of the speed I needed to do it with, I am pretty disappointed with them and probably won't care to work with them in the future.
With that said - *phew* that turned into a bit of a rant there, sorry guys! - my order was on the 24th, and it's scheduled for delivery today, the 26th! Now THAT I like. However, I think it's because it's coming either from FL, one state away from me, or from a facility directly within my own state, and has nothing really to do with the speed or efficiency of Tiger Direct. But, it's still nice, especially after the unpleasant feeling I was left with regarding trying to cancel my order. (So yes, in the end I gave up and decided to just bite the dust and spend the extra money).
As for Amazon, they did a great job with my tablet order way back when, but the champagne docks they just never got in stock again I guess. Hope my cancelled order can go to a nice home.
