Ambient Light Sensor + Long Sleeves

I've noticed that the ambient light sensor does a very poor job of selecting appropriate brightness levels when emerging from a long sleeved shirt (the watch is always too dim for the surrounding light conditions).

It must have something to do with the darker light level inside the sleeve and the watch not being able to adjust quickly enough when your pull your sleeve back to view its face.

Anyone else notice this?

Since the sensor is not always polling (that would drain your battery even further), it does take some time from the time it turns on the screen to when it 'polls' for light levels again. But his should only happen if the screen is on while under the sleeve or with the sleeve casting a shadow. If the screen turns on after it's been pulled out of the sleeve and into direct sunlight, the screen should come on with full brightness pretty quickly (there is a slight delay sometimes, but nothing unbearable).

I noticed it. When I slide my sleeve back and twist my wrist to read the watch it only turns on half brightness most of the time. Once in a while it will come on full brightness...It just may depend on the room brightness...I do have it set to auto.

I have mine set to auto and I went to the movies last night. I had loose long sleeves on and when I would turn my wrist it lit up like a mini flashlight! Very startling...

I don't know if you turn off notifications this would turn off the whole turn your wrist to light up thing. I was wondering about that, too, when in a dark room like a theater or the movies. That's why they should have a switch for this haha Also, when I'm driving, the screen keeps turning on every time I turn. I'd be happy with just tapping on the screen or pressing on the button to wake it up.

On the LG G Watch, muting the notifications also turns off the gesture control (when you lift your wrist to turn the watch face on).

Sadly, this is not the case on the Moto 360. Even when the watch is muted, you can still turn on the screen by lifting your wrist to the "what time is it" position.

I've gone to just turning my watch off when going into a movie theater :( .
