AMOLED burn in unacceptable

I very rarely have my brightness above 50% and if I do it's when watching a video.

I've had this phone since launch day and the burn in on the screen is awful when you display a blue screen. I know that AMOLED screens are prone to this degradation of the blue pixels but this is pathetic, not even after a years use and it's already burned? Neither my S3 nor S5 have had this issue after such a short length of time.

The most noticeable is the battery indicator, network info and clock but there's also a burn in via a bar where both the Facebook blue menu is as well as Chrome's address bar.

I don't think it should burn like this after such little use, can other users check to see if theirs is burned by displaying the blue screen via the *#0*# test mode in the dialler.

No burn in on mine, just checked. And note that I use this phone for Waze when driving. Longest I used it for continuously was an 8hr drive.

I just checked mine and I am seeing an ever so slight burn in where the Facebook lines would be on top of the screen. Not bad at all though. I have to strain to notice it on the blue or white screen. I don't really care anyway. I'll be trading it in for a new phone soon. I'm really intrigued by the LG V20. I'm kind of invested in the Samsung environment though so I will probably wait to see what the S8 Edge brings.

It's very difficult to take a picture considering the lighting conditions involved. I've falsified the colour and a few other things to try and make the fault clearer to see. It is a fair bit fainter than this, but it's still unacceptable that it's burning in with such little use. This isn't even 9 months on...

I worry about mine now and the buttons on the bottom of Android Auto burning in as I drive an awful lot, but I haven't seen any of any kind so far.

Samsung warns the users about the screen burn in the manuals, therefore if you have this issue, its customer damage.
Even my Samsung TV warns when I set the turn off timer, that longer periods (more than 4 hours I believe) could cause screen burn. Same goes for their phones. If you have the same screen on for long time, it will burn into your screen. I've seen once an S5 that had such a bad burn that you could easily see the game (solitaire), and even the shape of the cards lol.

I don't have just one app open for 4hours at a time. Find it pathetic they call it customer damage when it's an underlying fault with the technology. I've no choice in regards to the battery/network placement, so that's surely not MY fault?

With Nova launcher you can hide the top bar. Reappears on a swipe ( configurable).
I use an old live wallpaper (wp clock) that shows battery, network, time and date...so I don't need the top bar.
No burn in after long drives with an offline navigation app.

The heightened possibility of screen burn-in is one of the main reasons why, after getting my LG phones, I fell out of love with my S7e and sold it. I hear it can happen With LCD too but is exponentially less likely. Best of luck to the Samsung owners out there.

Unfortunately, this is an inherent problem with OLED panels, and is why the default status bar icons are usually slightly gray-ish in color.

Until QLED hits the mainstream, the only way to increase the lifespan of an OLED panel, short of changing the actual compound used in the OLED itself is to keep static display elements as minimal as possible.

Tell you what, it'd be useful to go the style of the V10/20 and have a separate panel to deal with status information that uses e-ink instead of a conventional panel

A co-worker has this issue. If he's looking a a website and there is a white background with a blank area (no text or images) you can see a fain pink burn in of the keyboard.

Of course it matters, it's an underlying fault with the technology in the panel. Checked my S5 yesterday and there's no burn in at all on it.

Also bit of a probelm considering Facebook, Twitter and android central among others have a blue theme.
