A lot of love here for Nexus. If it werent for all the complaints from nexus owners about poor data reception I would have bought one by now. What dif isnthe operating system if you cant get data?

For everyone that says we weren't promised ICS in 1st quarter, you need to watch the video on the release of the Rezound. Both hTC and Vzw were there. In that video we were told that the Rezound would have ICS 1st quarter 2012. That sounds like a guarantee to me which turned into a lie.
That said if your mad that you don't have ICS as promised and you won't root because of voiding your warranty or don't want the hassle of rooting and dealing with attitudes. Still no excuse for not having ICS. The ICS leak is a free and easiest way to install without voiding warranty or bricking your device.
It's easy enough you should'nt need help but if you do, MrSmith317 has an easy how to guide to help you through it, and he is always there to help.

Think about all the time being wasted on this ICS complaint could have been used enjoying ICS instead.

Bottom line is when purchasing a phone, be prepared to NOT get updates for it. There is nothing in writing or in your contract that states that VZW must provide you with software updates within a predetermined time frame.

If you really want ICS take the 10 MINUTES to download and install the RUU and be done with it. You wasted more time creating this thread than it would have taken to load ICS onto your phone.

I agree that we should not have to do it this way, but to be honest I would rather take an hour to root and install a custom ROM onto my phone which will run better than anything we get from VZW or HTC anyway.

So to be honest about everything. Rooting your phone does not break your warranty. Where does it say this? Your Verizon contract says messing with your software can void your warranty, but how are they going to know? The only actual warning is when you Unlock at HTC dev. It says the unlocking process MAY void your warranty. Unlocking is not rooting. And now that we have s-off, all of this is moot anyway, because all you have to do to get back to stock, with a stock h-boot, is to flash whatever RUU that gets you to the latest official software version.

Besides, as soon as we get official ICS, you'll start up about JellyBean. It's already been out for x amount of time, why can't we get it? We have the hardware, blah blah blah.

To all the negative ninnys out there... to hell with you. I got a call back from verizion and although i did NOT get a phone i did get 120$ credit on my bill. Still no official word on the ICS update... and Big red still blames HTC and HTC blames google and Google blames Big Red. I feel 80 percent satisfied with the result. Thanks to those few who supported my decision to send the email. The "official" response was that handing me a 650$ full retail phone was too much... so i asked for a 200$ credit to offset what I paid for the rezound back in november. They countered with 120 and I took it. Im happier now and not likely to bad mouth Big Red.

They've basically admitted some degree of fault. Let's see...a lawyer might get 30% of $120 times the number of Rezounds sold at retail price by VZW.

Good for you. Glad you scored. I always support the little guys vs the big coorporation when cause is legit.

Once again... i hear root your phone and void the warranty. Im not prepared to do that. I just want what was promised. Thats all... Thanks for the few comments that werent negative. A few years ago I bricked an eris trying to put a gingerbread leak onto it.

You don't have to be rooted to flash the ICS leak. I'm not rooted and I flashed the first leak. Runs great. Still looking forward to the official release to see what changes.

So to sum up:

1. Verizon engaged in borderline consumer fraud when it advertised the Rezound in November of 2011 as getting ICS in "early 2012" (which is also what the sales rep told me).

2. Neither July nor August of 2012 are "early 2012."

3. Deadwire was compensated for his perceived damages resulting from this consumer fraud by Big Red.

4. Anyone who wants can run an ICS ROM on their Rezound whether rooted or not, it's just not "official."

5. None of this has anything to do with hardware warranty.

6. The stock OTA whenever it comes down will never be as good as what the devs put out. Try any of the 3 Sense 4.0 ICS ROMs out now and you will never look back. (I have run ICS since April or May, and I am on Nils' Business ICS Sense 4.0 v2.2).

7. The larger issue is that the GPL is being violated by VZW and HTC in not publishing source code, as they are required to do.

Dumped down the innertubes from my Arnova 10 G2.

Sounds to me like you were just looking for a free handout and you got it. Your initial email was complaining about software updates and getting a phone with current android, so the proper thing to do would be to somehow allow you to return the rezound and pay the difference for a subsidized phone at your 8 month (or w/e) contract. Instead they gave you money to shut up and you were happy.

Yes people like you cause costs to go up because you are looking for a freebe. I don't understand why you wouldn't root or at least install the leak, because you say so? Thats pretty immature. The software updates you so angerly demanded are here and available.
