An embarrassment of riches - too many tablets! Should I consolidate and get an iPad Air?

If I had this scenario I'd lighten the apple truck saving one that still had some vitality but has lost some of its street cred (pad2). Keeping this one mainly because I probably have some apps and content in the appleverse still. Having narrowed my tablet congestion I now patiently await that unannounced Nexus 10 living happily ever after in droidville.

If only that mythical nexus 10 had been released by now, at the rate we are going now, its going to be April/May before we get it, if we even do get it.

Thanks for all the advice! I really love the iPad 4. It has so much better specs than the iPad 2, including Siri of course. I love it so much I think I'm going to sell it, and the iPad 2 and get an iPad Air. :)
The weight analysis is a bit iffy though - because as soon as you put a case on it it becomes much heavier. In fact, the iPad Air with the Apple case is 15 g heavier than the naked iPad 2 I have!

I wrote up a complete break-down at my blog:

Instead of making such an unfair comparison, how about you compare the weight of a iPad 2 in a case to an iPad Air in a case, or a naked to naked comparison and then talk about the weight difference. It just seems illogical to make the comparison you're making.

Well, you'll notice in my blog post I did that as well. I compared all of them. I was simply pointing out that the case adds a substantial amount of weight. Comparing naked vs with-full-case for the iPad 2, iPad 4 and iPad Air you get the following.
Here is a comparison of weights. The first weight is “naked” with no cover or case. The 2nd is with a completely protecting case.

iPad 2 608 g 834 g
iPad 4 652 g 881 g
iPad Air 478 g 623 g

I went on to say:

The iPad Air with no case is really, noticeably very light. With the case on though, it is actually 15 g heavier than my naked iPad 2. The case makes a big difference in weight. An iPad Air with the case is just 29 g lighter than the naked iPad 4. The difference between the iPad Air and iPad 4 with case, however, is 258 g, which is dramatically noticeable.

I was quite busy and did not have time to read your blog post but based on the way your previous post was worded it seemed as if that was the only comparison you were making.

Enjoy the iPad Air, my father picked one up and its a great device, very fast and the tablet apps are great in contrast to Android, I immediately began to notice the more optimized apps for the iPad compared to my android tablet.
