An open letter to the moderators of this forum

Well we have pretty much established you guys rock. Let's bring the other mods here because I have plenty to say about the Windows Phone central mods and something with one iMore mod.

Chetan,

If you have a concern about a mod, editor, article, site design (ANYTHING Mobile Nations related), please drop me an email and we can discuss directly. Thanks!

I am curious if moderators ever answer their PM's.

I've sent 2 PM's to one mod and a one or two about different issues to other mods and I've looked through my inbox and do not see any replies. Since we are encouraged to PM them, I am just wondering where the answers to the PM's go. If they don't answer, what's the point of contacting them?

Just asking.

To those curious about our response times via PM, while we are absolutely encouraged to respond to every PM we receive, often times we are not online as often as we would like, or have a full work load. Sometimes we over look a PM, are waiting for further insite on the issue, or mentally note ourselves to handle it later. We are only humans, after all. ;) If you have not received a response to a PM that you feel is of the utmost importance, please, send the individual an email via their mobile nations address (mine can be found in my signature) or, if it is in relevance to a thread or post, report it so that it is sent out to the whole moderating team. Admins also receive these alerts. If you would like, you could also PM another moderator with your concern. We all have each other's contact information, and will pass along the message as needed. That being said, while many people may follow us on Google plus or may have been involved in a hangout with us prior, please keep all site related inquires onsite or via our mobile nations addresses. I will no longer be responding to offsite inquiries regarding onsite issues. Thank you.

Thanks for that clarification, it helps me, and I'm sure others, in understanding how the process works. :)

Just curious who's idea it was to do this public display of infraction counts under our avatars? Am I supposed to feel humiliated and humbled now? Ashamed? Like I should be wearing a billboard in public with my crime written on it? Well I don't feel any of those because I received an infraction for not taking lip from a moron with a big mouth. Was it against the rules? Yep. But it wasn't an incident I feel "ashamed" of. If it had have been in public he would've probably had a fit lip and no "report" button available and have learned a much better lesson in courtesy and respect.

The mods here are WAY better than WPCentral, where they might ban you if you say something negative about Nokia.

Yeah I got banned for pointing out problems with windows phone.

Posted via Android Central App

Not only do they ban you, they close the thread ("This thread has gotten out of hand... no longer constructive... deviated off the original topic... blah, blah, blah..."). In my opinion WPCentral is much worse than AndroidCentral & iMore. I don't do CrackBerry, so no comment there.

WPC forums moderation is bad. Very bad, and it goes all the way to the top. I've witnessed what you guys are saying happen to others as well. A member I know fairly well from XDA Developers got his entire Mobile Nations account perma banned because he innocently posted an avatar (that contained no nudity at all) of a nude model. He didn't know who she was though, he just found a random pic on the internet of a girl he thought was cute (again no nudity, photo was from the shoulders up) and WPC accused him of pornography and perma banned his entire account. Why? Because he was mildly critical of WP. That's why.

Their team are controlling, and manipulate their own rules to ban people who don't toe the "everything about WP is awesome" party line there. And it appears we're the only ones who notice it or care because Mobile Nation's staff that are above WPC's mod team were alerted to the specifics involved did absolutely nothing about it. I can understand that this is a free site and we're not paying for a service. And MN should understand that I certainly won't buy products from any of the MN online stores because of incidents like these.

Again, please keep the conversation on the topic of the AC Mods. While I'm sure some of you have frustrations with the other MoNa mods as well, ranting about them here serves no purpose to the constructive atmosphere of this thread.

Sometimes I wonder if there isn't enough important matters to attend to in the real world and people just find ways to complain just to complain because they got nothing else more important to worry about in their life. I am pretty sure the issue this particular posting is suppose to address has be addressed accordingly so why can't we just all get along and move on? If people aren't happy with the way the situation was resolved maybe the issue is with the complainer not the moderator, and its not like anyone is forced to be in this forum.

True, but it does make me feel good in a shadenfreude kind of way :p
