And so it begins, burn in

I just noticed the beginnings of screen burn in today. It's at the top and bottom of the screen, or rather (and perhaps more accurately), it's everything but the top and bottom of the screen. It's not bad yet, but keeping the notch hidden, plus the navigation bar at the bottom isn't wearing those portions out as quickly. Mind you I've taken all the precautions to prevent it. I.e. Keeping the screen dim, quick time out, limiting static images, etc. So for all the people saying it's no longer a problem, nope, these self destructing screens suck. As I said in another thread, I'll take an LCD any day.

LG seems to have a problem with their OLED screens. (The Pixel 2XL was an LG screen - and had the problem.)

Good thing there's a 2 year warranty on the phone.

Just out of curiosity, how much battery life do you usually have left at the end of the day. Just trying to get an idea of your usage compared to mine to see if I need to start worrying.

I charge it multiple times a day. Mostly to keep the 40-80% rule, but also due to being mostly on mobile while driving and streaming media all day on mobile data with mixed signal strength.

Ok. I guess I wouldn't be considered a power user. I try to stick to that battery rule as well, but I usually end the day around 70% without charging at all through the day. I'm beginning to wonder if I even use my phone.

Yeah, I don't really chime in to battery life threads for that reason. It's great relative to my uses, but looks poor when taken out of context.

To be honest, I'm not sure and don't really track it, but users shouldn't have to. I would likely fall into the power user category.

You are correct users shouldnt have to track it, but you are complaining about burn in so you are the one i would have to ask in regards to usage and screen time. So telling us you have burn in with no reference to usage or screen on time is like saying your car ran out of gas but not telling us if it was a full tank or if you have been driving non stop for a day. I was looking for more info to get a better point of reference. Based on your response / usage i dont believe i will have burn in on my device.
Thanks for the follow up and additional info. It was helpful.

That really sucks....

There are too many variables to use screen on time as a reliable guide to determine if you will have burn in.
