I had a chance to play with the note 10.1 at work yesterday briefly... I really did like it... Especially with the use of the stylus.. Not enough to go buy it, but i really did like how it felt.

Yeah, they bring nothing to the table other than a quad core gaming beast with a 720p HD screen and stock Android, regarded by the review community to be the best 7 inch tablet at ANY price. Yep, nothing. The Samsung Galaxy 7+ is a significantly worse device in every single aspect aside from it's SD slot and the N7 has USB OTG. I can't image why you would suggest such an inferior device as a "Nexus Killer" unless you work for Samsung, or bought a SG7+ and are trying to justify your purchase.

Well it's a terrible multi-media device due to the lack of CODECs Samsung has on their devices (yay for relying on redundant 3rd party apps to do what other devices can do with stock apps, something I absolutely deplore), in addition to the lack of DRM support. It has poor Social Network integration compared to TouchWiz devices. Google has no standard Sync application, so media management is through MTP (Lol, especially if you own a Mac) and PIM management from a desktop is basically non-existent. Some of Samsung's modified apps are superior to their stock equivalents (No device backup/restore, etc. that matters to some people and can be a lifesaver at times). Samsung puts things like Music Recognition in the music app, for example, negating the need for third party apps like Shazam.

There are lots of areas where stock Android is seriously lacking from a user experience standpoint (Google improved the UI tremendously, but many other shortcomings have gone untouched). That's why most people still buy TW/Sense/Motorola devices in lieu of Nexus devices even when they're on carriers on contract - even after the price drops.

Not everyone buys a tablet for gaming, and not everyone will spend $199-249 for a 7" tablet to game on when something like a handheld gaming console (PS, Nintendo) or even a real console (XB360, PS3, Wii) which is way superior.

No back camera on the Nexus 7, either, in addition to the lack of an SD Card Slot, making some applications useless on them, while completely usable on the GT7"+ (i.e. mobile video analysis apps like Coach's Eye).

The screen resolution difference isn't a big deal, the Exynos performs well enough (and performance helped by the fact that it has to push less pixels), and the AMOLED screen has almost unlimited viewing Angles in addition to being incredibly power efficient if you know what you're doing, so for an enthusiast with a clue the GT7"+ will undoubtedly outlast the Nexus 7's battery, easily.

I've used a BB Playbook (7" with same resolution) and the difference between that and 720p on a 7" tablet isn't really a factor, IMO.

I have a GT7+ 32gb and it's a great device. Build quality is excellent, don't experience any lag since the ICS update, and does everything I need it to do. The only thing I wish it had is a higher resolution screen, not for video because streaming movies is fine, but for text. When viewing websites or magazines, I have to zoom in a little from the overview to get the text to clear up.

If I didn't already own this and was looking to purchase a 7" tablet today, I would go with the N7 or maybe, the GT7.7. (btw, I hardly ever use the TF101 because I find it too big for casual use). I do use the CM9 touch pad for reading kindle/nook books to my kid.

I did go look at the N7 thinking the higher resolution would make a difference. After playing with it awhile, I didn't see enough of a difference to make a purchase. It didn't seem noticeably faster nor was the screen that much better in terms of text clarity. And JB, aside from some features I would never really use, I didn't see the "butter" experience.

I can't see people choosing the GT7+ over the N7 unless they really need the extra storage, camera, or IR remote. The next tablet for me will be the ipad mini if and when it comes out. Depending on price (a big if considering the price of the recently released ipod), I think the ipad mini will do to the 7" tablet market what the ipad has done.

Noooo… don't get pulled over to the dark side! iOS is terrible compared to Android! You will regret it. Plus, by the time an iPad mini is released (if one will be released), a successor to the Nexus 7 will either have been released or will be on its way, and that will be a step further! Please, change your mind, I beg of you to do so!

lol... Samsung abandons their products when it comes to software updates. My Samsung Droid Charge is stuck on Gingerbread even though the phone was released in May 2011, five full months after Gingerbread was released. That's some good software support right there.

I fully expect to see a bare minimum of two major software updates on this tablet, keeping it relevant for at least three years total. Perhaps even four.
